001: ...Another Opens

[ninth_doctor]

[The Doctor is working on some gadget for the TARDIS with his sonic as he steps onto the Plane. He walks a few steps, not noticing where he is and then freezes. He taps his foot on the ground. It's changed.]

That's not right.

[He looks up and looks around. A small smile appearing. He pockets the items he was working on and takes in the sight before him.]

All realities, all of time at the same instant. I mean, I see it like that all the time in m'ead. But this? This is fantastic!

[But that's all just an act. Seeing this place reminds him of the one place that isn't here. And that pain still burns raw within him. He sees a bar and enters. He only takes a glass of water, but is pleased to notice the Hyper-vodka is well stocked.

He looks around the room to see who's around.]

You are a Time Lord, then?

[They were the only ones who felt time like that. A simple savage could not hope to understand or even imagine it, but she knew the theory, at least.]

[ninth_doctor]

[That voice... that tone... there is only one person who... He turns to face her. He can tell she's already blind and can't see his smile. But he has that smile that's somewhere between pleased and shocked.]

Leela. Oh, Leela!

[noblesavage]

... you know me?

[She cannot see his smile, but she can hear it. There is only one Time Lord who would greet her with such enthusiasm.]

Doctor.

What we said earlier about hugging.. yeah Nine had other opinions. The prat :P

[It seems like an eternity ago since he heard his name uttered like that. And perhaps, in one sense it was. And after all he'd been through, seeing her like this, he knows she's not too far off from what lay ahead - or what is past for him.

He can't quite stop himself and hugs her. If anything, she's at least one remnant that's left and, really who can blame him for being a little clingy?]

Leela! I never thought I'd see you again...

[Oops, a slip, but he'll recover.]

[The timing on Jamie's end when he walks into the bar is such that he gets a lovely view of the back of Nine's head, but it's hard to forget those ears - or that voice, even if it has been a wee bit since he's heard it. He breaks out into a broad smile.]

Doctor? Hey, ye came back!

[ninth_doctor]

[There's only one person in all his travels that has a Scottish lilt quite like that. He slowly turns around.]

J-jamie? How did y'know it was me?

[bonnypiperlad]

What do ye mean how did I know? It's not as though I'd forget those ears of yours. You've not been gone that long.

[And, of course, he's got to try and give the Doctor a glad thumping of greeting. Because it's Jamie, and when has he ever respected the Doctor's personal space?]

It's good to see ye again, all the same.

That was adorable!

[She was surprised but not displeased by the hug and, after a moment of pure astonishment, laughed and returned the gesture.]

It is good to see you, too.

Has it been that long?

Yeah, just don't tell HIM that :P

Depends on when you're from. But it's been...

[Well, he doesn't really know how long it's been. His sense of time is off without the Time Lords and Gallifrey to ground him.]

[That was spoken very slowly. Nine is utterly confused. Because, in his timeline he hasn't. But then he scowls.]

Oi! Wot's wrong with me ears?

[He hasn't seen himself yet, so doesn't know what he looks like.]

Don't worry about it - I tend to run a bit slow anyway.

[That's a wee bit odd, and Jamie frowns slightly. Doesn't he remember?] Aye, of course ye have. Ye showed me that one moving picture in the theatre here. What was it called again? Oh, Highlander, right.

And have ye not seen yourself lately, Doctor? Those ears of yours are all sticking out now. [Not that his don't do that a little as well, but they're usually hidden by his mop of hair.]

Your own...oh. Aye. Aye, that could be. Although...I've not met any of ye here where that's happened before. Unless that one of ye with the hair's from your future.

[He shakes his head, dismissing the thought. Too hard to try and figure all that out.]

Anyway, you're here now. What would ye like to know about the place?

Meredith Sault explained things t'me. I suppose it would be better t'tell me what you think I should know. All the things she didn't say.

[Which he assumes is a lot, but rather than asking it's easier to have someone just tell him.]

[Rory walks into the bar soon after, but stops short, surprised, when he spots the new person] Oh, hello. Erm, sorry, I didn't think anyone would be in here. [he frowns slightly] Are you...new here?

[The Doctor turns around at the voice.]

I was actually surprised that it was empty. I suppose y'could say I'm new, yeah.

[He smiles and holds out his hand.]

I'm the Doctor.

[grip_on_reality]

[Menzies is sitting at the bar enjoying a nice pint. she looks up when he enters, having just been able to catch his outburst outside. she watches him for a moment as he gets a glass of water, wondering whether to say something. and then she decides why the hell not? the bar isn't exactly crowded] Fan of the Plane, are you?

Only jus' arrived. Don't know that I'd say I'm a fan yet.

[He looks around.]

But, it's not bad.

[she chuckles, amused at that quick conclusion. she wonders if he'll feel the same way once he finds out about what goes on around here] Anybody shown you the brochure yet?

[He pulls it out and shows it to her.]

Meredith pointed 'em out. Haven't read it yet. I prefer to draw my own conclusions.

[But that doesn't mean he won't listen to what others have to say.]

[she's surprised to hear that, actually] That was helpful of her.

Yeah? Might want to give it a look--at least to find out how to 'ome. But otherwise, knowing this place, it'll make sure you draw some conclusions soon enough.

[He shrugs.]

Must be my winning personality.

[He grins at her last comment.]

Been 'ere awhile, have you?

[she snorts and takes another drink of her pint]

A little more than six months, maybe? [she pauses thoughtfully] Probably more. This place makes it hard to keep track.

[The Doctor's face falls slightly at that memory. He couldn't help them, being away...]

Lots happened since then. I regenerated...
