Whoa! Am I dead!?

[a man in a full suit of purple body armor has arrived on the Plane in a crumpled heap on the ground, but he quickly pulls himself up, looking around frantically] ...huh? Where is this place? [he blinks, confused] Hey, stars! That means it's heaven, right? [he lets out a sigh] That's a relief!

So, um...is anybody out there? Heaven isn't supposed to be lonely, right? Hello? [hesitantly, he takes a few steps forward, looking around at the starry landscape] I'm Medical Officer DuFresne. I think I just died. Is anyone there? [he pauses] Um...Church, are you out there? Or Tex? Oh god, I hope Tex isn't here... Wait! [his expression brightens] This is heaven. So Tex wouldn't be here! Or Church. Aw, that's not very nice. I really shouldn't say that. But at least Tex won't beat me up... Wait, could she even do that in heaven?

[and now that he's started, he's probably just going to keep muttering to himself for a while--unless you'd like to interrupt him]

Somehow I'm not surprised. [and he hears the explaining thing quite a bit as well]

Oi, it's not a plane like that. [he frowns, somewhat annoyed. he's trying to explain and the other person just wanders off? story of his life.] This is the Astral Plane, and no, it's not run and owned by the Astrals or anything like that. [hands him a brochure] Here, this ought to explain things better.

This place has a brochure? Wow. This isn't like, some sort of luxury space cruise, is it? [excited] I've always wanted to go on one of those! Relax, do some yoga, meditate... And there's nothing like a dip in the pool! Has this plane got a pool? [he takes the brochure and opens it]

Okay, look, this isn't a vehicle of any kind, so let's move on from that, yeah? [he decides not to mention how it's called "The Machine" since that name would just complicate things unnecessarily] Besides, this isn't the sort of place where you can completely relax, well, not all the time. But if it makes it easier for you to think of it along a ship metaphor, it's a bit like the Titanic: pleasant, with all the amenities, but with danger just around the corner. Well, the danger isn't icebergs or drowning in the freezing Atlantic, anyway.

[Doc glances up at the Doctor] So there is a pool? Wow, that's great!

[he goes back to looking over the brochure, though] Aw man, experiments? Really? That's lame.

[he facepalms. literally facepalms] No, there is no pool! The only thing close to it is the hot springs down that way! [points in a direction beyond the theatre]

Now do you see? You don't know when the experiments will happen, or if they'll happen to you or a mate.

[sorry Doctor, but that really doesn't bother Doc] Hot springs? Are you serious? That's even better! Just think of how healthy we'll all be! I wonder if they have free robes...

[the Doctor opens his mouth to explain that bathing isn't the only thing one needs to do to be healthy--but by now, he sees no point in wasting his time. and people wonder why he explains things later, if at all.]

Ask--[gives him a look that says that he's heard plenty of questions before, but goodness, that was one of the dumbest ones he's heard]--of course I did! Ask anyone around here if you want to hear it for yourself because clearly, you aren't going to believe me!
