Whoa! Am I dead!?

[a man in a full suit of purple body armor has arrived on the Plane in a crumpled heap on the ground, but he quickly pulls himself up, looking around frantically] ...huh? Where is this place? [he blinks, confused] Hey, stars! That means it's heaven, right? [he lets out a sigh] That's a relief!

So, um...is anybody out there? Heaven isn't supposed to be lonely, right? Hello? [hesitantly, he takes a few steps forward, looking around at the starry landscape] I'm Medical Officer DuFresne. I think I just died. Is anyone there? [he pauses] Um...Church, are you out there? Or Tex? Oh god, I hope Tex isn't here... Wait! [his expression brightens] This is heaven. So Tex wouldn't be here! Or Church. Aw, that's not very nice. I really shouldn't say that. But at least Tex won't beat me up... Wait, could she even do that in heaven?

[and now that he's started, he's probably just going to keep muttering to himself for a while--unless you'd like to interrupt him]

[ooc: Doc is coming from s8 ep1, i.e. right here--meaning he just got knocked out. Please excuse the panicking.]

[Shun hears the muttering and has to say something] You aren't dead. This is just the Astral Plane. [Because that explains everything]

[Doc jumps, turning to see who's there. then his expression brightens] Hey, this is heaven, isn't it? There are even kids here!

...wait, I'm not dead? [he blinks, looking down at himself] Are you sure?

Ohmygosh it's another armor-guy!

[ZOOMING over to see Doc now, because these suits are pretty awesome and he wants to meet the people in them.]

So you're a Freelancer too, right? Your outfit is a different color.

[Shun just smiles] I'm sure! It's not like you're stuck here or anything. You can even go home, you know.

[strange and curious sights are what usually draw him to things--and boy, your sudden appearance and that armor, is right up his alley, Doc!]

Nope! You're not dead, and I'd dare say this is a far cry from heaven--which sounds like a film title, come to think of it--but you're definitely not dead. [steps closer, getting into Doc's personal space] Well, I say that but yet you very well could be just nothing in a suit. Knew a great and powerful man once. Got stuck in a dimension beyond a black hole and slowly lost his body, but he wasn't aware of it thanks to the robes and mask he wore all the time. [starts poking the black part of Doc's body suit]

[surprised] Really? Uh...how about we don't do that. I don't want to get hit again.

So what is this place? Why's it all...space-y? [considering that he arrived here after getting knocked out, he has to ask:] ...this isn't actually a cave, is it?

[Doc is rather happy to have someone zoom over to him. no one ever does that!] Hey! Yeah, I've got armor! You must be a civilian.

Huh? [scoffs] No way! Those guys got disbanded. They all went to jail. Well, almost all. Apparently some of them didn't. I wish they had... I'm a medic.

[Doc is dubious about that assessment] Really? Are you sure?

...what!? [Doc starts rapidly backing away from the Doctor. this does not sound like a safe person to be around] Yeah, uh...I bet you don't get much sunlight around here. Maybe you should see about getting an artificial light...

If you want to go home, you just have to think about it! It's really easy to do.

No, it's not a cave. It's the Astral Plane. It's a kind of a place where all these different worlds can meet!

Extremely sure. I'm not dead. And no one else is here either--well, they're also from different time periods so at some point, they will be dead, but right here, right now, they're very much alive.

[raises an eyebrow] Oi, I'll have you know I get plenty of sunlight! If I wanted sun, I could simply go back to my reality. Like so! [and he drops off the Plane, then returns with a stripe of zinc down his nose and a pair of sunglasses on. he also has a glass of lemonade in his hand] See?

Really? Because someone else here said they were a Freelancer so they can't all be in jail.

[Suddenly he has THOUGHTS.]

Does this mean you're going to go arrest her?

Yeah, uh, I don't think that would be a good idea. I don't want to die for real.

It's not? [he sighs in relief] That's good! Wait. You mean, like, it's between a lot of worlds? Like actual space? [alarmed] We're in space!? How are we breathing!? I don't want to die...

[under his visor, Doc's eyes just got very wide] Did you say she!? Oh god... Was she wearing black armor? Tell me she wasn't wearing black armor!

So what you're saying is we're all going to die? You know, if that's supposed to be reassuring, I think you might want to work on that...

[Doc stops his rapid retreat, staring at the Doctor] Whoa, cool! How'd you do that?

No, she had pink armor.

Pink? [Doc sighs in relief] Good.

[uncertainly] And you're still alive? She didn't try to kill you?

Well I think I'm here, so yeah. We just talked and everything was fine.

Are you in trouble back home? [Shun worried about everyone. He doesn't like seeing people hurt]

No, no, we aren't in space! It just looks like space! [He thinks hard for a second] It's more like different dimensions that can come here.

[Doc seems far more pouty than worried] Simmons just hit me! [actually, the Meta did, but he's a bit hazy on the details] And there were these two freaky guys at the base... [cheerfully] But if I stay here for a while, I bet they'll go away!

...oh. [he immediately calms down] So is this like...Freelancer technology? Wow. [he looks around him, admiring the Plane and even tapping an armored foot on the ground] That's cool!

That's a relief! So, uh...where is this?

[arches an eyebrow] You don't really listen to what's being said, do you?

[sips his lemonade] I dropped from the Plane. That's where we are--and you can do it too if you wanted! Well, I'm not sure they'll have lemonade in your reality, but anything is possible.

[Doc is remarkably unconcerned] You know, people say that a lot. [he listens, frowning at the Doctor from within his visor] ...and you're really not very good at explaining things.

Are you sure this is a plane? It's huge! It looks more like...I don't know, some kind of warship. Probably with missiles or something. [Doc turns, starting to walk away curiously]

Welcome to the Plane, and you're not dead.

[So says the Gundam Pilot.]

[Doc blinks at him] Really? [he looks Duo up and down] So you picked me up? Wow! Are you the pilot?

I used to be a pilot, but I'm not anymore. No one picked you up.
