[when Menzies appears on the Plane, she looks far calmer than the last time. and not only has she regained her composure, but she is no longer wearing gloves. for those who know her, she looks like her normal self again--right down to seeming a bit exasperated. but that's okay because this time, she's at the bar]

[she sighs, musing to herself] You know, somehow I didn't miss the paperwork. [pouring a pint, she takes a seat] Or the DCI. [she smiles wryly] Still, nice to get back to the usual sort of cases. Robbery, a bloke's wife beat up his girlfriend, one of the Trigillans caused another road accident by shorting a car's electrical system...

And yet, somehow, here I am. [she pauses to take a long drink--but then she turns, realising there's someone else at the bar with her. she sets her glass down] And it looks like I'm not alone. Please tell me this isn't a sign that there's something new and exciting happening around here. Because if it is? I'm going back to the paperwork and the Trigillans.

That's why I'm asking you! I was hoping someone else was having the dreams, and since you're human and obviously must have dreams, you'd probably have a bit more experience with dreams and seeing random people in them. But, I guess I assumed wrong.

[gives her a look right back] Actually, I'm not behind the times and that's exactly what I found out when I investigated the bodies. I am curious to see how you discovered the bit about the tooth, though. I didn't think forensics in 2011 was nearly that sophisticated.

[she smiles wryly] Looks like you and your lady friend are on your own.

[she waves a hand] Had a bit of help from someone here. Surprisingly, when a murder happens? Most of us don't wait a couple months before mentioning it to anyone.

[he makes a face at her]

Oi, most of you lot aren't travelling the universe either! And--[wags a finger at her]--I'll have you know I stopped countless other murders from taking place! So. Who is this help then, hmm? Anyone I know? [he asks expecting a sassy remark right back from her about how is she supposed to know who he knows around the Plane.]

Surprisingly, I'm not on Facebook, and I haven't seen your friends!

He was some special agent from America--Middle-aged bloke, serious expression. Had a thing for suits. Trouble is, I haven't seem 'im since.

[looks at her with a flat stare. really, does he look like someone who would use Facebook? all his luck his Farmville farm would be invaded every hour.]

[unfortunately, that description can match a couple people] Did he have a name, by any chance?

[she just smirks back at him]

Not one he ever took the time to give. Had a co-worker known as "Agent B," but that's all I've got. Sound familiar?

[his eyes widen a bit] Hold on a mo'. Agent Kay? Short-ish man in a black suit, looked like his face had lost the ability to smile?

[surprised] Yeah, that's him. So you did know him.

Well, we weren't Facebook friends, but I'd met him a few times.

[arches an eyebrow] What did he have to say?

What I told you. He'd seen the bodies on his world, and we dropped by Longsight's morgue to take a look at ours. He said it all checked out--exactly the same. [she frowns, trying to remember if they'd discussed anything else] Oh, and it seems we both got some interesting graffiti, too.

But all that was months ago. Like I said, I haven't seen 'im.
