[004]

[when Menzies appears on the Plane, she looks far calmer than the last time. and not only has she regained her composure, but she is no longer wearing gloves. for those who know her, she looks like her normal self again--right down to seeming a bit exasperated. but that's okay because this time, she's at the bar]

[she sighs, musing to herself] You know, somehow I didn't miss the paperwork. [pouring a pint, she takes a seat] Or the DCI. [she smiles wryly] Still, nice to get back to the usual sort of cases. Robbery, a bloke's wife beat up his girlfriend, one of the Trigillans caused another road accident by shorting a car's electrical system...

And yet, somehow, here I am. [she pauses to take a long drink--but then she turns, realising there's someone else at the bar with her. she sets her glass down] And it looks like I'm not alone. Please tell me this isn't a sign that there's something new and exciting happening around here. Because if it is? I'm going back to the paperwork and the Trigillans.

As exciting and fun as it is, I'm not sure I'm interested enough in having ideas about it. Besides, we don't know each other well enough, this place and me, it's too early to draw conclusions.

[He's drinking juice anyway, so alcohol reserves don't worry him much.]

And you? Does the benefit of experience feed your mind with anything in special?

[He eyes the pile of paperwork. Honestly, the sole sight of it makes him dizzy.]

I can see why you wouldn't want to deal with all this for a while. I hadn't thought of this place as a way to get solace though.

[He takes a sip of his drink. Is he really curious? Actually he is, part of him is at least, deep down, fighting the part that insists in no caring, in getting out of here and not returning ever.]

I'm not in any hurry either.

Time doesn't pass?

[If that was on the guide his mind quite obviously flew over it. He hums for a second and nods.]

That sounds like a useful thing to me as well.

[At least he doesn't have to worry about being too late or whatever.]

I heard about the candy making people act strange, violently. And that the disappearances leaded to the bodies being found, murdered and with a hand missing. And that it happened in more than one world.

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-11-19 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No one mentioned it and if it was in the pamphlets I must have missed it.

[At least it counts as good news, maybe the only ones one can get here.]

Acting on their fears? You mean as if they thought they were surrounded by whatever they feared the most? Like trapped in a nightmare?

[It still sounds dangerous anyway and something he doesn't want to go through. To have his mind altered, to not have control over himself or be fooled into doing something, those are things he prefers to never experience. Again at least.]

Doesn't sound like it... How can you be sure it's something from here and not from another world that uses the Plane as a hallway to other worlds?

[The fact that the Plane seems to be involved is undeniable anyway.]

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Supposedly I can, I've tried but it doesn't seem to work with me. Or I haven't found the proper way to.

[It may be attached to the fact that when he wishes to return home, a small part of him worries about his reality having been affected by this place already and thus he ends thinking more about here than his reality. The fact that he was in the middle of a time travel doesn't help to picture where he has to return to.]

... I see. And of course that causes problems to everyone even after that wears off, I suppose.

[Becoming what he fears the most... That's not so terrible, actually. But it may be because he already did so in the past.]

Unless whatever did it was invisible. Or there are actually other ways for it... Specially if it has any relation to those guys apparently in charge of here.

[If asked, Ikki would have no idea what face he makes at that question, but probably one made by someone who has never seen anything on a television or a cinema or even read a stories book. Because that's exactly the kind of person he is. Menzies may want to explain what's that supposed to be, though he guesses it's a program or a movie.

He merely hums in answer regarding the next subject though. He really has nothing to add or say.]

That seems to be the case. Then again it's hard to know if it's happening in worlds that don't have people from them walking around here, isn't it?

The people in charge always know something, after all, let's not forget we're guinea pigs. Have you ever met someone working with guinea pigs that has things happen to them without them knowing exactly what's going on or why?

[He's fine with dropping it. Sorry he didn't get the joke, it's one of the side-effects of not having a childhood.]

That or making a strange collection. The message seems the most likely to give some logic to the attacks.

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-12-16 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The logic that says that everything that happens does so due a reason and with a motive, I suppose. That and it's better to assume that people are being killed because someone is trying to send a message rather than just because they are a murderous psycho who is doing it just because they can.

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-12-17 09:59 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. Wonder what's wrong with the old way of just going to someone and telling them what you wanted to tell them.

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
And we can't have that, of course. They could get bored and wither without anything interesting to stimulate them.

[Someone here wouldn't really mind the part about the people in charge of this place withering or whatever.]

[identity profile] uccellodifuoco.livejournal.com 2011-12-18 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Mind if I ask what they are?

[He can't really say if they are a better option or not if he doesn't know.]
