003 - White and Black

[Misaki appears on the Plane, this time with a grand piano in tow. For a cop, she certainly seems to enjoy stealing things.

She looks around for a long time, making sure she can see no one within shouting distance, and then lays her hands tentatively on the keys.

The song comes out clumsy at first, her fingers stumbling on the keys, trying to remember old positions. She pauses constantly to check and make sure no one is around before continuing.

Finally, it starts to get easier. The keystrokes come faster. Fiercer. Her fingers flash across black and white like spider legs winding a cocoon. She closes her eyes and forgets to look around, losing herself in the sweep of Rachmaninoff.]

True. There's something realllly satisfying about gaining a skill you had to work for.

Ehhhh...[Decides to use something a lot of people here knew about, rather than something that would make a cop suspicious] I learned how to use a whip...that was a challenge.

I was a teenager and I though it would look cool if I could use one. [Least it's better than saying his a good shot with a gun]

[Starts playing the theme to Indiana Jones.] I focused more on marksmanship once I entered the academy. Did a lot of competing when I had time outside of work.

I placed internationally once or twice. What about you? Are you a good shot? [Gives him a sidelong look.] And please don't deny it, Dino-san. You've got recoil calluses from the butt impact.

[Great, she's an observant, intelligent cop] You saw that, huh? Wow, you are good. I guess I'm a pretty good shoot. My Grandfather, ummm, really liked guns so he made sure I knew how to use one.

[Doesn't push--for now. Though the "ummm" is a dead give away that there's something more going on.]

I'd never touched a gun before academy. Just sort of took to it--though I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

You and your Grandfather were close?

Yeah. He was nice guy...not very good with money though.

[And the lady cop sprang a question he hadn't though about before on him. Great..it takes him a couple seconds to think up an answer.] One of my Grandfather's friends said it was something I might be good at it. It seemed like an interesting job, so I decided to try it.
