003 - White and Black

[Misaki appears on the Plane, this time with a grand piano in tow. For a cop, she certainly seems to enjoy stealing things.

She looks around for a long time, making sure she can see no one within shouting distance, and then lays her hands tentatively on the keys.

The song comes out clumsy at first, her fingers stumbling on the keys, trying to remember old positions. She pauses constantly to check and make sure no one is around before continuing.

Finally, it starts to get easier. The keystrokes come faster. Fiercer. Her fingers flash across black and white like spider legs winding a cocoon. She closes her eyes and forgets to look around, losing herself in the sweep of Rachmaninoff.]

[Listens with a soft smile on his face and waits until she's stopped playing before he speaks.]

I didn't know you played.

[Slow grin.]

It's what I'm good at.

You play very well.

Ah, if you meant it to be private, I'm sorry. But you're welcome.

Did your father teach you?

Ne that's Rachmaninov, isn't it? Wonderful composer~ His piano is the most well known, but his operas are beautiful ♥

Oh, he was a very large man himself! His hands must have been twice the size of mine and he was at least 200 centimeters tall. I thought he would step on me, for sure~

Though, seeing him in concert was quite a treat. He only came back to Europe for a short time, and Amshel had been invited to a concert of his. I probably wasn't supposed to, but I did sneak away later to meet him myself. Very nice man, if not a little quiet. Though...A lot of musicians seem to be that way.

Oh, of course. I've met, talked with, been friends with lots and lots of people that humans would consider famous. That's one of the advantages of immortality~ You get to meet all of this interesting people, then thirty years later, they're hailed as a genius, a murderer, a saint...That's always fun.

Though, at the time, you had no social standing whatsoever if you did not listen to Tchaikovsky. I got to hear one of his very last, though. Grigori had been kind enough to take me, right after he became my Chevalier.

[ Yuyuko hums in appreciation ]

Quite a passionate piece, that is~.

Martha Argerich's piano concertos of his works were always my favourites of his. When I was younger, I'd spend hours listening to it. Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending is my top bit of classical, this regeneration.

Ahh, the tragedy of lacking 'free time.' That expression really does imply a lack of understanding, doesn't it? Time isn't chained; it is the bond and the restriction. So the saying isn't terribly apt. Why not search around here for people to join you in a production of the piece? Time is here.
