... others can dream they are heroes, or that they are at some other place, they could even fly without wings in their dreams, or anything but but but a princess?! Being a girl!? Haha, the Gods must have thought it would be funny to show me how it is to be a girl-! A princess even, very funny! ...A princess... In a kingdom with dragons...

[And in the middle of his rant, Hiccup's knees go weak and he falls flat on his face... and not getting up. Toothless, the dragon who is following him, stops next to him and lays down to take a nap too. They were practicing all day after all, so Hiccup could distract himself from the 'dream' he recently had.]

[Aww, poor Hiccup. Emil smiles at that.] I... kinda understand. I'm supposed to be a knight and a protector, but sometimes I end up being protected instead.

[He spends a good portion of his time cooking for his monsters, so he expects Toothless to be curious. He pats the dragon gently on the nose before letting his hand fall away.] I don't have any food on me. Sorry.

I'm Emil. It's nice to meet you, too! [The question makes him grin awkwardly.] A couple. It's... complicated. [They don't like people too much. Also they are not as cute as Toothless.]

Huh, that's... Then you know how it feels like. [Smiles a little.] I mean, not that I judge people by the outside, really...! It's just... [Shrugs.] I just know.

[Toothless snorts, and flattens his ears in a 'then I'm not impressed' way. Hiccup on the other hand, looks at Emil interested. He is a dragon-geek after all.] What kind of dragons do you have there? Do you have to fight them too?

[He laughs.] N-no, it's fine. I know I'm not that manly.

[The blonde runs a hand through the hair at the back of his head. His turn to be nervous.] Ah... They're the same as other monsters. They won't listen to me unless I fight them and prove my strength. Only then can I make a pact with them.

We are on the same ship then. I guess...

Other monsters? [Hiccup mutters amazed.] You can make a pact with them? What kind? [Yes his mind is already working on this pact business. Though Toothless doesn't seem to be interested in that. At all. Give him food, let him fly, he won't eat you. Deal.]

[Emil doesn't have food! Stop making hungry faces at him!

There's still a bit of reluctance when it comes to explaining pacts, or what exactly he's doing... but Hiccup isn't from his world, and the secret's kind of out already. So whatever.]

It lets them fight alongside me. The only other pacts I know of are the ones a summoner makes with Summon Spirits. But I actually have to feed and take care of my monsters, so it's a little different.

Soooo you keep them, and they fight for you, because... you are helping them too? [Nods, yes he can understand. Well they are like this with Toothless too, but Hiccup is reluctant about letting him fight with anyone or anything. He wasn't even thinking about that so far.]

Then you must know your way around these creatures! That must be great, because with Toothless I was so helpless, the Dragon Book didn't say anything about Night Furies, but that they are bloody creatures going for the kill, but he didn't, so... But I wanted to help him to fly, because I kinda hurt him, and it was a long... way.

[Now Hiccup gets the 'dude...' expression from Toothless.]

[He nods. Hiccup seems to get the important parts, at least!] We have to make a whole bunch of pacts in order to help our world. It's complicated, but that's the best way to put it.

Must be a tough world... But there is a way to stop these monsters! That's- that's very useful. I mean you have options, and not just slay them... [And at that Toothless doesn't look happy. No talking about killing 'monsters' pls. Hiccup just laughs nervously, scratching the back of his neck.] And you have others to help you... I envy you, Emil!

Yes, he is doing much better now. You know I made this artificial fin for his tail instead the one he lost, so with this he can fly, but not perfectly. But- but I made it so we could fly together, because I can control him from the saddle. [Hiccup says excited and shows it on the dragon. It's not many people he could talk about this after all... Aka: no one.]
