❀ 6 - The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades

[things have been rather interesting for Donna recently, though she thoroughly loved having the power to create anything and had a field day making every single article of clothing, all her shoes, and her hats (just in case) impervious to anything that could potentially destroy them. it's been a real boon, lately, to have--even if she didn't foresee having to leave behind a new pair of boots behind in the mud on some flipping planet being invaded by centaurs. she's still a bit sore about that one.

fortunately, that's the farthest thing on her mind as she appears, shrieking, on the Plane.]

What was that?! Oh my god, what the hell was that?!

[she would look completely shocked and frightened, but she's currently wearing high-tech sunglasses that completely obscure her eyes and eyebrows.]

I meant your ability. Whatever it is you can do now. I figure that's something pretty difficult to take, even if you set out to do it.

[He raises an eyebrow at her.] Have you gone mad yet?

[thankfully, that stops any potential arguments she had on her tongue. instead, she lets out a little snort as she laughs] Have I? [starts shaking her head] No. My eyes are just open now.

[He gives her a line-face, and then sighs. He's amused, but it's hard to tell with him sometimes.] So you think this place got you mixed up with someone somehow? Does it usually give you a way to fix it or do you gotta figure it out on your own?

These things tend to go away on their own, really. [she sighs a bit] But I'm not sure how they could have mixed me up with someone else, you know? I'm not special. I'm just a temp from Chiswick...

Oh, come on. [Incredulously.] I'm an average guy. And I can speak over a hundred languages, diffuse major weapons systems, and make a damn mean cup of coffee. Your here. That's plenty special. [As he's talking he's fishing in his pockets to find a particular gadget. Op, there it is. He holds it up to his eye to see if she's still human through it.]

[she sounds pretty incredulous herself] You can speak over a hundred languages and do all that to weapons systems and yet you're still aver--what are you doing? [points at the thing he's holding up to his eye]

It's called a spectral monograph. It allows me to see your skeletal structure and heavy organ formations so that I can tell if whatever this was made you not human. ...I don't see any noticeable differences. [He turns it off and pops it into his pocket.]

[she frowns, not appreciating that tactic] You could've asked, you know. Do you go around monographing everyone you meet?

Not everybody. Only when I'm looking for something. [He's at least putting it away.] I'll ask next time. Usually it's a good idea for me to move quick, but rest assured I don't judge on skeletal structure. [His last date had no bones in her fingers, after all.]
