What were you doing before that? How did you end up fighting?

I was in another city. I joined accidentally.

'Accidentally'?

We were attacked, and then they asked me to join.

They all fight monsters, too?

Some of them do.

Why only some of them?

[That earns a moment of surprise and then a grin] I'm sorry. I mean, you friends--do they all know about these creatures, but only some fight? What are they called, by the way? The monsters.

Shadows. Most don't know about them.

Why is that? Do they only show up in certain places?
