hypospraying: (happily surprised)

003 ☤

[Christine is walking around the Plane, wishing she'd changed out of her uniform before she arrived. She's been on her feet all day and her boots are hurting her feet. Immediately, her heels drop a few inches down to the ground as the boots disappear, replaced with a pair of fluffy pink slippers.]

What the...? That's not normal.

[She frowns, cautiously lifting up a foot, then sets it back down and bounces on her toes a few times.]

Huh. Well that's better.

[She looks down at her uniform, thinks for a moment, and is suddenly wearing a matching pink, fluffy robe. Her hands run down the material, as if she can't believe it's not an illusion. A smile spreads across her face, the apprehension gone.

An hour later, she's standing in front of three full length mirrors, a drink in one hand and the other set on her hip as she gives herself a critical look in the mirror. She's wearing a slinky, strapless red dress, her hair is done up with curls just escaping their pins, and she's practically dripping with gold jewelry. The pink slippers, however, are still on her feet.]

I think not the red. Bad things happen to people who wear red.

[With a thought, the dress has transformed to a green halter style. She sips at her drink, tilts her head, and changes the gold jewelry to silver with emeralds.]

Perfect.

That wouldn't surprise me, either. It seems as though as soon as ye think you've gotten something figured out something else happens.

At least ye can't say it's not interesting here, though.

Aye, that it is, but maybe it's best not to think of that too much right now. Otherwise we might think up one of those beasties without realizing it.

[Having only seen ice-cream vans a few times, it takes Jamie a few seconds of peering before Christine's question makes sense. Once it does, though, that vaguely puzzled expression clears quickly, replaced with a broad smile.]

Aye, that sounds grand!

[He takes his ice-cream happily, but doesn't really want to eat it standing. Some greenery appears near the truck, a small bit of a park with a large tree and a reasonably comfortable looking wooden bench underneath it.] No, they're not. Would ye care to sit, Christine?
bonnypiperlad: (curious)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-05-19 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
[Jamie settles in as well, focusing on eating his ice-cream for a minute or two. Eventually, though, he looks back over at her, something from a little earlier in the conversation coming back to him.] Say, who was that person who ye thought of before, anyway? The one ye said had an accent like mine?
bonnypiperlad: (thinking)

Chief Engineer? [The other Christine had mentioned that too, hadn't she? And there was something about a ship that both of them had mentioned.]

Oh, for your ship? He would be in charge of...er...Engineers, I take it.
bonnypiperlad: (curious)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-05-22 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I see. [Genius in charge of engineers - he can understand that, even if he doesn't have the strongest grasp on what it is an Engineer does, exactly. Starships, on the other hand...]

A starship? Would that be like a spaceship, then?
bonnypiperlad: (talking2)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-05-24 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, well, 'starship' makes sense, if ye ask me. A ship that can go in the stars. Back in my day, though, no-one would have thought that to be possible.
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-05-25 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. [That's a bit tricky, and Jamie takes a moment to eat some more of the ice-cream before responding.]

Well, the first time I left Scotland, the year was 1746. The second time was a couple of years after that.

[For his part, he seems remarkably unfazed by the fact that she comes from a time over five hundred years after his own.] So I've noticed.

[dryly] The Doctor's fond of saying that I come from a coarser time. Or, well, he used to be. I've not heard him mention it here on the Plane.
bonnypiperlad: (smile)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-05-27 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
[thoughtfully] Well...aye. I suppose that they wouldn't.

[A slightly crooked smile appears on his face.] I might have to use that if he brings it up again. That is, if ye don't mind my borrowing it.

bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[While the thought is amusing, it does also remind Jamie that he still needs to figure out how to rescue his Doctor, or there might not be the opportunity to try out that particular line. The smile fades a little.]

Aye, well, with luck I'll have the chance to.
