as the stars are going out and this stage is full of nothing

[Some of you have known this moment before.

The stars have started going out. For those on the Plane as it begins, they can see Meredith Sault alone among numerous holographic monitors, windows into all their different worlds.]

You have to prevent harm to the people.

[The Machine listens.

Every resident not already on the Plane is brought there immediately; the moment they arrive, Meredith closes down the monitors. She gives them one reassurance.]
This should be brief.

[Their only warning before she disappears. The stars are going out faster now, and soon all that is left is the soft luminescence which each subject emits. Then that is gone too. Those whose powers come from their environment are without any power.

Those with good hearing might even notice that the distant sound of machinery that haunts this place and all their dreams has stopped. For once, the Astral Plane is silent.]

[ooc: The plot begins! It is in detail here. One day of a power-out to be followed by two weeks of reality-warping from those who took up the library challenge. We'll have the schedule up today.]

[He lets go and looks around them, giving a slight shrug.]

I wouldn't know, it hasn't happened before that I remember, but I haven't been here as long as some, I'm sure.

[ffft typo demons. That's what I get for being up right now I suppose. Oops.]

[ She rolls her eyes slightly, sliding her hands into her back pockets. She glances around, but it's hard to see in the dark. ]

Of course not. But I wonder if what's happening back home has anything to do with this.

[ooc; aww. no worries. i didn't even realise at first! ]

[He raises an eyebrow questioningly.]

And what is going on for you back home, Miss Pond?

[ She hesitates to tell him, but how much harm could that do? ]

Honestly? The universe is ending. Well, it's sort of just disappearing. You know, never existing.

[with great effort, he holds back a sigh.]

And, let me guess, he's working out an amazingly clever and complicated way to keep it from happening at the last second? [sarcasm, he's got it.]
