[today, Oliver arrives on the Plane with a bed in tow. not just any bed, but what appears to be a standard-issue hospital bed from the 27th century. he is also wearing a hospital gown, and he has an oxygen tube hooked to his nose and an IV in his arm, although the appartuses the devices were attached to don't seem to have made it to the Plane with him. hopefully he didn't actually need those. interestingly enough, there is no sign of injury on Oliver himself, except for perhaps the IV in his arm. but in addition to all this, Oliver looks terribly startled to have arrived on the Plane]

What the--what is this!? [looks around him in confusion, then gives the IV a suspicious look] I thought I wasn't on anything strong! Why the hell... This was a dream! [turns upward, apparently addressing the stars themselves] A dream, you hear?

I know I was wishing to be anywhere but hospital, but blimey, that didn't mean I wanted to start hallucinating! [sighs] I wonder how long this is gonna last... [props himself up a bit, pulling the tube out of his nose as he turns to take a look around him]

[ooc: This is NOT an experiment. Oliver is suffering from some nasty side effects of chemical exposure during an incident on Gondovan. He currently has amnesia stretching through the last several years of his life. His memory will slowly return, but for now he doesn't remember the Plane or anyone on it, nor how his empathy ability works. he also doesn't remember the details of his life on Gondovan or even the end of his travels with the Doctor. So, enjoy the confused Brummie!]

Wow... Question, though! What do you mean different "realities"? Like...different universes?

[hypospraying]

Yeah, I think so. All different times and places. It's a great learning experience.

[oliverplus]

Where are you from, Christine?

[hypospraying]

I'm from Earth, or Terra, and the year is 2258. And actually, I'm not on Earth, I'm on a starship. The U.S.S. Enterprise, Starfleet's flagship.

How about you?

[oliverplus]

Ohh, way after me, then! I'm from Earth, too, but 2006. Right now, though, I'm travelling with this bloke called the Doctor. The hospital told me I'm on...uh...Gondovan. In 2600-something.

So you're in the military?

[hypospraying]

So you... travel through time? [She smiles.] Not through black holes or anything, I hope.

Well... it's more of a peacekeeping armada. We mostly do research, searching space for new lifeforms, but we also protect the people of the Federation if they're under attack. So in that respect it's like a military, yeah.

[oliverplus]

Yep! Well, the Doctor does, anyway. And nope, actually, we travel in an old blue Police Box. If you can believe that!

Ohhh, cool! That sounds fantastic. Does the "Federation" cover a lot of space, then?

[hypospraying]

I'm... trying to. [She shakes her head and laughs.]

We do, though much of the space in between is still unexplored and uncharted, of course.

[oliverplus]

[laughs with her] Trust me, with the Doctor, nothing's ever ordinary!

[surprised] Really? How's a Federation form that's so spread out?

[hypospraying]

Mmm, well it started with planets developing warp technology and being able to contact each other, and from there, they decided to unite under the ideals of liberty and equality. They shared knowledge and trade, and space exploration expanded from there.

[oliverplus]

Warp technology! That's fantastic! You can warp anywhere? Or is it like Stargate where you need an address?

[hypospraying]

Uh, I dunno what a Stargate is, sorry. But our navigator puts in coordinates to get us where we need to go. I guess that's sorta like an address.

[oliverplus]

Ohh, that sounds more like the TARDIS! Well. Except the part where I'm betting you actually get where you meant to go.

[hypospraying]

Is that the traveling police box thing? [She grins.] Yes, but usually when we get there we find something we didn't expect.

[oliverplus]

Yeah! She's amazing, but--between you and me--I don't think the Doctor always knows what he's doing when he drives her.

We get that, too! Fantastic, isn't it?

[hypospraying]

And you aren't worried about crashing? If you're even able to crash...

Err, well, not always no. Usually a few of the away team that goes out never comes back, or they come back with some affliction we've never seen before, and they die before we can help them. Not always great, the unexpected.

[oliverplus]

Nah, we always get somewhere. Just...not usually where he said we'd be getting to.

[frowns, sympathetic] Hey, sorry. I didn't mean to hit a nerve...

[hypospraying]

It's ok. It's just hard sometimes, being a nurse. [She frowns for a moment but then forces herself to more on.] So where have you and this Doctor fella traveled to?

[oliverplus]

All over space and time! Lots of places on Earth, like ancient Persia, Africa, Spain, Trafalgar Square, Belgium... And then plenty other places--Jupiter's moons, Rudieros, Kalidai, Suntre... I could go on for a long time!

[hypospraying]

That's quite an impressive list! Is it part of your job, to do all this traveling?

[oliverplus]

What, travelling with the Doctor? [laughs] Nope! Just something you do, I guess. I mean, when you meet an alien who goes all around the universe saving people, it's hard to say no.

[hypospraying]

Saving people, huh? Do you travel to their time and place specifically to save them?

[oliverplus]

Not really, no. I mean, the TARDIS might, but we don't. Between you and me, I think she's got some sort of sensor for trouble.

[hypospraying]

Well as long as you can stop that trouble, I guess it's ok that she takes you into it.

[oliverplus]

That's what we're there for!
