What's all this then? It's pretty unexpected, I have to say. If this is what I've been missing out on, I'll have to start sneaking out of the Palace again.

Still, as nice as the scenery is, pulling people into Machines isn't something to be taken lightly. Grand experiments like this without the consent of the test subjects aren't something I can condone. I might have to talk to some people. Hopefully there aren’t any idiots I know getting themselves mixed up in anything they shouldn't be. It would be a hassle to have to clean up someone else's mess again.

So how about someone come out and tell me how to get out of this place? While the look of the place and the new surroundings are great, being trapped too long in one place would be annoying.

That appears to be the cure of these military folks, they have such limited imagination when it comes to their own appearance they don't seem to realize how distressing they look. Alas, I'm far from home and having trouble even coming up with suitable clothing even for myself. People there do try, but they simple aren't of the same quality as what I'm used to.

Tell me about it. I do my best to send Jade costumes when he is traveling, so he doesn't offend the locals too much with his heinous sense of style, but I wonder sometimes how much that works.

Considering how attached some people get to their uniforms I'm not sure he truly appreciates the sentiment. Even my student Elspeth, despite how very clever she can be, was ready to give up all the beautiful clothing that had been made for her in exchange for her utterly plain uniform. It still baffles me.

I didn't intend to end up as far from home as I am, but my original plan of travel was...meddled with. I was eventually convinced that Valdemar was in desperate need to my help, so there I have stayed for the time being.

What a hopeless case. People like that need all the help they can get.

At least it's all for a good cause. Their leader has to be pretty happy with you helping his people like that.

We did make some progress with her when she agreed to let us redesign her uniform, although she did insist on keeping it white.

The Queen did seem to be rather happy about the war being stopped. She even granted me space on palace grounds to build my home away from home.

White can work, but it can be boring as hell if it's done wrong. You seem pretty on top of stuff like that, so I'm sure it was fine.

The Queen, is it? Either way, can't say I blame her for being pleased with you. Wars are tiring and the kind of guy who can help stop one is invaluable.

White is completely boring when that's all someone wears. Although I will confess it wasn't really my doing. I may have advised but the hertasi are the ones that truly worked the change. Some of them are absolute geniuses with clothing.

I can't truly take all the credit for that. I had a significant amount of help as well. I doubt a single person could have done all that was required.

The hertasi? Who are they?

Even if you can't take the credit, every person who helped bring peace would be a precious and valued ally to her.
