[sitting at a desk in the middle of the Astral Plane, working on his paperwork like a good little nancy boy. And, like a good little nancy boy, he's listening to a broadway musical. On the glasses Fumie gave him, to be specific.

In fact, he's singing along to one. Yes indeed, Sam's singing "If You Were Gay."]

Hm. Well, there is still a Broadway in my world...I couldn't say how different it is from worlds like yours, of course. But, I mean, we get a lot of plays, songs, movies that have to do with the Gate and such. [Pondering this.] I never really thought about that...all the little things that would be different if the Gates hadn't appeared.

No, I guess that'd never occur to me, either...

[Puts on a smile.] Well. No use thinking about it. The Gate isn't going to disappear anytime soon, whatever the rumors say.

What other musicals are good in your world?

I... honestly don't know. The Doctor seemed to like Wicked and Sweeney Todd.

So what are they about?

No idea! He said something about blood for the second one, though.

Oh! Well...sounds interesting. Or something...

Yeah. I wonder a bit. But the Doctor's a good sort, so.

Yeah...oh, that reminds me. I've been working on finding out more about the Master's hypnotic abilities, and I've learned a few things.

Yeah?

Well, the unfortunate thing is that his power level is quite high, and he uses a "power of suggestion" kind of hypnosis, rather than the "puppeteer" kind. Which means he's not actually in your head, directing your actions. The suggestion kind is harder to deal with, but it can still be fought. He has to make eye contact, for one thing. And if he does try to hypnotize you, the best tactic is to focus on some kind of powerful mental image. It's difficult, but it can be done.

[frowns] But the Doctor said he hypnotised the entire world with a drum beat and a few satellites, so are you sure eye-contact is necessary? Though that was low-level, indirect hypnotism, so maybe it works different...

H-he...the Doctor didn't tell me about that!

How did it happen? What did he do?

Maybe the Doctor you spoke to didn't know it.

I don't really know the details. The Doctor - uh, messy-hair - mentioned it during one of our sessions. And the voice? And when I - when the one Master almost got me to shoot him... the voice... [shakes his head] There was a lot of power in the voice. I think that and his eyes are what he mainly relies on.

I spoke to the one who called himself "Ten."

But the whole world...nobody should...[Stops and collects himself.] How did you manage to escape him that time?

Uhm... Red Coat tackled me to the ground. [scratches the back of his head]

[Stares at him, a little wide-eyed.] But that's good! That means that a mental or physical shock can stop the hypnosis. At least if it happens before the hypnosis fully takes hold...

Considering how I [eyes flicker] fought the Guv, while he was under, I think it'd have to be before it takes complelte hold, yes.

[Catches the look and nods.] Makes sense...the image thing, though--that should still work. But it would need to be a powerful one. Either that or [smirks,] have someone around to punch you when the Master tries something.

I can't believe someone as powerful as him can exist, though...

Oh, just ask the Guv, he'll be happy to oblige that.

I'm having trouble believing most of this exists. [looks at him] Do hypnotists not like work like that where you're from?

[Chuckles.]

I'm still not sure this place exists...though I think the people here do, at least. [Glances at him, dangerous territory here.] Let's just say that no hypnotist where I'm from would be capable of taking over the world.

Are there many hypnotists where you come from? You've made the implication that they're genuine, in your world.

...Not many, but yes, they are genuine.

What are they like? Are they like the Master?

[Does not like talking about this.] Not as powerful. Different mindsets.
