[There is a Dalek on the Plane.]

[The sense of menace that usually accompanies it is muted, somehow. The creature is still, unmoving, its eyestalk sagging lifelessly and its weapons array disabled. Closer inspection, if someone is bold enough, would reveal the reason for this unnatural stillness -- there is a gaping hole blown into the back of the Dalek’s upper casing.]

[...It’s best you don’t look in there. You may never view fried squid the same way again.]

[Crouched next to the Dalek is one Lord Founder Omega. There’s a hardness to him, at the moment, a grim smile on his face. He is carefully disassembling the casing, hands covered in thick welding gloves.]

[He actually seems quite pleased by this situation.]

But it can give a new chance for all the younger races to grow.

It's nice to know your motives are altruistic, Omega.

The ethical or moral lapses of others are not justifications for one's own behaviour.

That's what self-sacrifice means, Omega. You suffer everything and receive not an ounce of gratitude in return for what you gave up. And as old as you are, you're not the first, and you certainly aren't the last.

Still, I suppose it's understandable. You did have quite a long time to yourself for dwelling.

It is so difficult to convince one's suffering when one wears suits as nice as mine. You know, it can't scream any longer, and even if it could, twisting the plating wouldn't get through.

[Braxiatel's hearts are as cold as Omega's voice. He doesn't care if Omega hates him, nor is he inclined to say what he has done for Gallifrey. He keeps his silence well. So though his hearts are frozen, his voice is light and half-amused.]

It's a challenge, but I make do. And still you're taking it out on the Dalek. Do you know, Omega, it's rather appropriate that you take Thete's face. You've all his emotional maturity. But Isaac's voice is rather unsuited to you.

[pleasantly patronising] You're getting emotional, Omega.

But conversation isn't what I'm here for. As I said, I also have an eye on the future. Do tell me if you find anything useful.

[He's about to turn to leave, but stops.] Oh, and. Tell me if you need any more specimens to work from. I know where to find a few.
