[Daisuke appears on the Astral Plane rather unceremoniously. Apparently he was in the middle of walking, because as soon as he takes another step he just... FALLS. And it’s not like he tripped over anything. He just ceased to defy gravity. Anyway, with that Dojikko-flavored stunt he's left faceplanting in the middle of a snowdrift, with his books and binders scattered around him. Pencils, a bendy ruler and all of his cute little animu erasers are lost to the endless black starry floor of the Plane as well.]

Mmmphhh... [He lifts his head out of the snow and spits out... whatever that was. This snow is obviously misplaced in addition to being stained a disgusting oily-sparkly-black-brown.] ... Snow? But it was sunny. [He sits up and dusts himself off, then realizes he's not in Azumano anymore. He’s a little slow on the uptake, okay? But the point is, he's here now, so it's time to—

—scream a bit! Just a little bit!] What happened to Azumano? ... What happened to the ground?! How— how bad did I fall?!

... This is bad. Where did I end up this time? [SIIIIIGH.]

[Oh Satoshi. When will you make sense?

Satoshi's sudden appearance makes him jump about three feet in the air.]

H-Hiwa-ta-tari-san—!!

When did you get here?

[Oh, look, an emotion: amusement. Daisuke is never not fun to freak out.] A moment ago.

[FFFFFFFFFFFFF.] ... Ah... right... of course. [He shakes it off and takes the binder.] Thank you.

Is this another world inside of an artwork? It looks like it.

It isn't. [This is delivered with the certainty of a professional diagnosis.] It's supposed to be a machine.

A machine? Is it behind the... space stuff? [He reaches up to make sure that a spiral galaxy isn't about to drop on his head.] What kind of machine does this? It's more like magic, right?

It could be very advanced technology. [Satoshi has apparently noticed that gesture] There was a meteor storm. Nothing seemed to hit the Plane floor. [It is not one of the best demonstrations of reassuring someone, but this is Satoshi.]

Ah... I guess it's not really space, then. [He almost sounds a little disappointed.] It's still pretty, though. [He gets up and brushes himself off, then looks at Satoshi.]

Wait... we aren't trapped, are we?

[And this is where Daisuke starts to do a personal pat-down. Not only is Dark COMPLETELY silent in reaction to Satoshi being here, but his critter isn't with him.] With? With!?

[He puffs out his cheeks a bit in frustration and turns around in a circle like that'll help. At least it gives him a good view of the Coliseum.]

[Satoshi responds to Daisuke's (adorable) actions with impassivity. And maybe some more amusement.] We're not trapped.

[He turns back to Satoshi with a frown.] I don't see a door anywhere. And Dark isn't...

While you're here, what is in your blood can't manifest. You could say that it's like before the seal was broken. But when you go back home, you'll return to how you were. Unlike in the worlds within artworks, it is a suppression, not a separation, so it's harmless.

[Daisuke has to let that sink in a bit.]

So he goes to sleep when I come here... It's a good way to keep me being me, but... he'll probably be really mad when I go back.

[He looks at Satoshi suddenly, and feels a twinge of concern.]

Hiwatari-kun... have you been here before?

Yes. Time works differently here, so I can't say how long it's been, [that is, it has been over a year but there has been no canon-updating or ageing] but I've visited oftene nough.

[He bites his bottom lip.]

I didn't know...

[Because Satoshi keeping things from him is obviously Daisuke's fault.]

Are you okay? Even though you sometimes go to this world?

[Satoshi feels that this is a weird response on Daisuke's part, because Satoshi is a moron who gets surprised when people show kindness, sympathy, or consideration. He is honestly not sure what Daisuke means.] I can take care of myself.

I know, but if you come here without telling anyone and something bad happens... it might not turn out okay.

[He musters up a smile.]

But now I know, so even if something bad does happen... which I hope it doesn't... at least you won't be by yourself! Right?

[His logic needs help.]

[Satoshi knows that this is Daisuke's weird shonen thing, which is why bringing up Argentine doesn't seem like the correct response. But he doesn't actually have any idea what the correct response would be. So he comes up with the incorrect response.]

I'm more concerned with you. I've gotten used to it. You... [fall into artworks on a regular basis] ...are going to need time to adapt. Feel free to rely on Argentine for help. He has most of his powers back.

[It's a given that he'll rely on Satoshi for help, right? Right. Glad we have that settled. Daisuke isn't allowed to die before Satoshi catches Dark.]

[Look, it's the best justification he has. Let him keep it.]

Hiwatari-kun...

[His smile fades a bit. Satoshi is concerned and saying so. It's not something Daisuke takes for granted, that's for sure, and it's enough to get him to shut up for a minute as he considers the magnitude of all this.]

So he can come here, too... he never said anything either. [Now he frowns, though it's not the petulant sort one would expect. It's more like concentration, and that eventually bounces back to his normal stubbornness.]

If something happens here that needs taken care of, we can all work together to do it. I can't force you or Argentine to tell me anything, and you don't have to, but... we should definitely help each other. That's the best way.

[Satoshi scratches the back of his neck, a little awkward, a little uncomfortable. But, logically speaking, Daisuke does have a point.] All right. That gives us the best chances.

[As in the tower, Satoshi has to accept that they have complimentary talents.]

A while ago, there were forced fights to the death. I didn't have to fight, but Argentine did. [He nods to the onsen] There were bodies discovered in the thirteenth floor of that building, too.

[Daisuke figures they'll have to work together to stop this whole curse thing from killing Satoshi anyway. He's really thankful that he'll at least try, so he offers the blue-haired one a grateful little smile.

... It doesn't last. The mention of fighting to the death, as well as the bodies in the onsen, make him feel suddenly sick to his stomach. His eyes widen.] Who— who would force people to do that?! [Argentine never said anything, nor did he pop up looking like the crap had been beaten out of him, so does that mean...?]

I'm not sure. I've been meaning to ask around. [A little more of that awkwardness. He has been a little busy dealing with Haibara, Argentine, and Cally.]

[... Aww, Satoshi. With nothing to focus his anger on, he just kinda... drops it. Daisuke's not very good at angry, just at outbursts.]

A-ah... Hiwatari-san. Something like that must've been hard for you to deal with by yourself when you usually help protect people with your police work. I didn't mean to accuse you of not doing anything, because I'm sure you did everything you could.

I'm sorry.

[The thing about Daisuke, Satoshi feels, is that he just keeps surprising you.]

You don't have anything to apologize for. My policing is mostly to do with catching Dark, and the people here did manage to stop it. Someone will want retribution for that.

Then we'll just have to make sure that doesn't happen. Even if we can't do anything directly, we can still investigate things and try to warn everyone beforehand.

We'll figure something out.

[He can't answer that directly. So, with his subtlety, he changes the topic to something more practical. But he appreciates what Daisuke says.] What else do you need to know about this place?

[BLIND OPTIMISM IS SUCCESSFUL!]

Um... is there anyone who might be in charge? If we're going to look into the source of the... fighting, then we should start with whoever knows the most, whether they have any real power or not.
