[There is a Doctor wandering the snow-covered hills on the Plane again. He's actually without his leather jacket, simply wearing a black jumper and trousers. He scans the air with his screwdriver, frowning, before bending down to scoop up some snow]

All this heat and humidity beats the ice caves on Raxacoricofallapatorius. But it's wrong. This snow ought to be melting. [he pockets the screwdriver, before packing the snow into a ball and tossing it between his hands] Wonder if it'll melt with the storm -- there's got to be one soon, the weather's perfect for it.

[pauses] Perfect if you're on Earth, anyway. Of all the planets in all the universes to choose from, why'd the Machine pick Earth for a weather simulation?

[Braxiatel lifts his eyebrows. He moves through his own spheres and it doesn't occur to him what the Doctor might really mean.] I'm not very good at this sort of thing. It has become rather obvious to me since I left home.

I think you're better left to your own devices today, Thete.

[What he means, of course, is that Brax is better left to his own devices. Irving Braxiatel, notorious recluse.]

[Braxiatel looks at the package blankly, clearly caught off-guard by the gesture. Someone is apparently on one of his less socially-capable days. He glances at the Doctor.] I didn't do anything worth thanking.

I stumbled across it by accident, and I passed it on to Oliver so that I wouldn't have to put in the effort of involving myself. It's not worth mentioning.

[Now both of Brax's eyebrows go up.] Will you?

I'm surprised you'd back away so quickly.

[mildly] Perhaps you're becoming delusional. And so young, too.

[Nine has successfully pegged Brax as the Quintessential British Gentleman but the Quintessential British Gentleman does not bat an eye at such things! Pip pip!]

How about opera glasses? I lost my last pair in a bar fight. It was the Galyari production of The Threefold Death and a gentleman was speaking very loudly and very foolishly about Raynen's use of light as a symbol for clarity.
