[Damon arrives on the Plane looking a little frazzled -- and not just because he hasn't slept since before the deathmatches started] Will someone please explain why my fellow technicians and I are floating around in a simulated version of the Matrix? If I don't find a solution quickly, I have the feeling Commander Maxil is going to arrest me the moment he steps into the room.

Of course, he'll have a difficult time catching us, considering the lack of gravity, but I'm certain he would have no trouble at all turning the computer room into a prison cell.

I know it's impossible, that's why it must be some sort of simulation. But I don't understand how it happened.

Do you think it's possible? I suppose it can affect our realities already with merging universes, but I don't think that is what's happening here...

I don't think I've been here long enough to know what the Machine is fully capable of doing. But if it isn't the Machine, the only explanation I can think of is an elaborate prank, or something is very wrong with the Matrix.

I know of no such ability to tamper with the Matrix, nor do I have any data on such inconsistencies within the Matrix itself.

[Damon eyes the fluffy thing warily] Either someone's playing a very elaborate prank, or something very odd is going on with the Matrix.

[Sadly, they are sorely lacking in fluffy things on Gallifrey. Unless you count Damon's hair...so he's not sure what to do with it. :|b] I went back after we lifted the barrier and it was like this -- I'm sorry, but what are you holding?

[Here is a Jamie, who would normally have been happy to see Damon since he hadn't had a chance to talk after the attack on the barrier. There's a small drawback, though, as he doesn't know what the Matrix is. So instead he's just mightily confused.]

...No, I suppose the Doctor wouldn't have explained the Matrix to you. Essentially, it stores information -- not only about the past, but it can be used to predict the future. It also stores the minds of Time Lords who have died, as well as the bio-data of all Time Lords. Extracting that bio-data is an act of treason.

It's complicated...the Matrix can be accessed in a simulated reality environment that looks exactly the same way the computer room does now. I don't understand how this could have happened.

Aye, well, I'd say someone would be playing a prank on ye, but... [He shrugs. Time Lords don't seem the type to pull pranks. Well, the Doctor, but not other Time Lords.]

Could it be someone trying to make it do that on purpose to get ye in trouble? Or sabotage of some sort? Although, I'm not sure if that really fits.

[frowns] I hadn't considered that. I can't think of anyone that would, though. Commander Maxil isn't that clever, and the Castellan wouldn't have to bother with sabotage if he wanted to get me in trouble.

The inside of the computer room looks like the inside of the Matrix, which is very dark. And the gravity has disappeared, making it extremely difficult to do our work.

So it's like...floating nothingness? What happened to everything in the room?

Oh it's still there, just the environment surrounding it has changed completely. I don't know if it's an elaborate prank, something's very wrong with the Matrix, or it's an effect of the Machine I haven't heard about.
