[and now to bring you something completely different, here is Suiseiseki with a public service announcement!

because you see, this man? this man is a -jerk- who doesn't share his gorram sweets and if there's anything Suiseiseki will stand up against injustice for, it's not getting her way and having people cater to her demands!

so now she's sitting on a chair much too big for her, with a badly-drawn sign precariously balanced above her that reads 'Plane Food Inspector -- Only Sweets.' and she looks damn proud of herself]

I know you humans are usually very stupid, desu, so I made this as easy as possible for you to understand. Any sweets and pastries and confectioneries that come onto the Plane have to go through me, desu. If I don't think they're acceptable, you're not allowed to bring them.

[her tone turns conspiratorial] Otherwise, the monster in lake will eat you, desu. It's big and terrifying and it only listens to me, so unless you want to be seafood, desu...

[she leaves the thinly-veiled threat there, laughing at her own cleverness]

[Oh God this is hilarious to him]

[That's why he is smiling faintly. Understatement: he enjoys it.]

Have you ever heard of the sociological concept of 'face'?

[this smile knows the truth]

Then you'll be familiar with the idea of face-saving and face-threatening acts.

[very calm, very dispassionate, very much wearing that faint smile the whole way through] Face-threatening acts - particularly those that threaten the negative face - are generally not very effective. People don't like to feel they're being commanded. They don't like to be controlled. It's a curious thing, but autonomy is highly valued. Someone inclined to do you a favour or give you a gift may choose not to simply because you demanded it of them. I'm speaking in general, of course, not of you specifically. I was thinking of repaying you for those excellent sweets you left behind. I assume they were left as a gift?

[amused Remus is amused] I don't know, I think I can handle a monster in a lake.

[identity profile] oncemarauder.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And how many people was that?

[identity profile] oncemarauder.livejournal.com 2010-04-22 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it's probably very full by now.

[identity profile] bodilesswarrior.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
[just looks sceptical] This isn't very practical.

[identity profile] bodilesswarrior.livejournal.com 2010-04-21 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The Plane's entirely too big for one person to monitor, first of all.

1/???

[identity profile] hostclubdaddy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[he's overcome by just how frigging adorable you are, so give him a minute.]

[identity profile] hostclubdaddy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[and then he begins to register that last comment]

[identity profile] hostclubdaddy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[a gasp]

Done!

[identity profile] hostclubdaddy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[his own tone turns conspiratorial to match hers]

The monster in the lake?

[identity profile] hostclubdaddy.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[shakes his head]

I haven't! Is it really that terrifying?

[identity profile] grand-gaia.livejournal.com 2010-04-14 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[JUST. STARING.]

[identity profile] grand-gaia.livejournal.com 2010-04-15 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
...There's something in the lake?
