(no subject)

[Kate appears on the Plane with tattered clothes and no weapons, mid-roll, wrestling with a scaled, snarling creature that looks vaguely like a huge black lizard

except those usually can't spit acid

she manages to bend her legs above her and kick it in the stomach, sending it an impressive distance as she pushes herself to her feet

her shoulders are bleeding from deep scratches, her neck and face marred with light burns, but she's grinning fiercely]

So much for a pleasant welcome home.

[also apparently lizards can see color! the things you learn from wikipedia! xD Nine's expression is both impressed and vaguely disappointed -- he didn't really want to kill the lizard, but it couldn't be helped]

Well done! Now give me that, and I'll be back to fix you up. [gestures at the sword]

[and it does. ow.] Right, back in a mo'! [and he drops off the Plane again! He returns a few moments later, with a handful of...nothing. Or so it seems, at first. Then he snaps his fingers, and a small swarm of sparkly golden nanogenes fixes up the burn on his hand. He then gently nudges them over to Kate, and they get to work :3]

[have an eyeroll back] Nanogenes! Subatomic robots. They've just repaired all your cuts and bruises, free of charge! [he scoops them all back into his pocket, and snaps his fingers again]

[grins] They are, yes. Picked them up in 1941! Had to do a bit of deprogramming, of course; don't want them turning my companions into fully-equipped Chula warriors, thanks.

Yep! My new companion tried to con me with one of their ambulances, and it had a bunch of nanogenes inside. Nearly wiped out the whole human race, but then they got clever. After I emailed the upgrade, I snagged a few for my TARDIS. [he is clearly leaving out large chunks of this story]
