[The Doctor is not, surprisingly, brooding in the bar. In fact, he's not even brooding! He actually appears to be genuinely happy, in a "beaming away like Father Christmas" sort of way...and he's humming. A bit off-key, yes, but it's distinctly "Luck Be A Lady."

There are a few bits of TARDIS machinery piled up nearby -- the Doctor is actually taking Omega's advice, and repairing them. Of course, he's doing all this in the middle of the library, utterly oblivious to the fact that he might be disturbing someone's peace and quiet.]

((ooc: Nine has been bumped to a bit after the end of the Doctor Dances, fyi! Slow tags may be slow 'cause of work, but. :|))

[he beams, then drops it in the black hole, tracking its progress]

((ooc: I have no idea what sort of information he would get from this, so...))

[in less than thirty seconds, the signal stops]

[a pause]

I hope you didn't need that tracker.

[pouts] Damn. Didn't need it, but I was hoping it would last a bit longer.

[another pause]

Attach another one to a string and try it again?

[considers that] How long d'you think it ought to be?

As long as physically or technically possible seems the wisest idea. To be released slowly, so we know how far it will go?

[grins] Right, hang on. [and he digs around in his pocket, before producing the end of a piece of string] Take this and pull. [let's play "how much string can fit in the Doctor's pocket!" xD]

[holding his hands up so as to not take it] I'd rather not. [he means 'play that game']

[pointedly] You're the one who wanted a long piece of string. Pull.

I'm afraid that's completely out of the question. I'll hold your jacket and you may pull.

[there is a moment of internal debate, here...it is his security blanket, after all. but after a moment, he slips it off, and hands it to him] Be careful with it, Brax. [and then he starts pulling out the string :3]

[Braxiatel is careful with it - in fact, he's holding it delicately, examining the make and materials as the Doctor does the string-pulling stuff]

[the Doctor appreciates that, and pulls out a rather large amount of string before wandering back to Brax] Think this ought to do it?

I think we'll need to reconsider our options if it doesn't. [he offers the jacket back to the Doctor]

[takes the jacket gratefully and puts it back on, shoving all the string at Brax :D] Thanks! Hold this, I'll be back in a mo'. [and he drops off the Plane again, returning with another tracking device]

A strong knot, if it isn't too much trouble? Something Gordian, and hopefully our little anomaly doesn't have a big sword.

It's knot any trouble at all! [that silent k is emphasized there. somehow.] Could do with another sword fight, now that you mention it.

[Braxiatel hides a smirk at the Doctor's pun] Well not just now, I think. It would get in the way of scientific discovery, and we can't have that, can we?

[grins] Is that an offer for later? [he's done tying that knot now, and drops the tracker in]

It's an open possibility.

[very quickly, the tracker is destroyed and the string snaps]

...Well, then. And you thought it would be a good idea to put your hand inside it.

Oi, it was a good idea! Figured out the temperature, didn't I? [which he could have done with. oh. a thermometer. but where's the fun in that?]

And that it wouldn't kill you. Two excellent discoveries.
