[The Doctor is back again, but he doesn't look as though he's entirely there, so to speak. His eyes are haunted and weary -- seeing random glimpses of Gallifrey that only fade away again (not to mention the more permanent bits in his garden) is still taking a toll on his sanity. So he's escaping to the Plane in search of a distraction. Preferably one that involves ~~death traps~~ trouble. To anyone who might be willing to help him out in that department;]

Oi! Have any of you lot seen a bloke named Dr. Crane lately?

[dryly] You've got no idea. [and then he pauses, trying to figure out how to put it] It's like...the merged bits are there, and the rest are just...glimpses.

Hallucinations, possibly? A side-effect of what happened to your mind. It's connected to us, to your ability to know us, and that would be linked in with memories of your home and your people. It wouldn't be inconceivable for that to bring about hallucinations in your various senses.

[he was afraid Brax would say that, because it only confirms his own suspicions] Right, remember that bit where I needed a distraction? One of those would be fantastic right now, thanks.

[Braxiatel actually becomes a bit pale at this, realizing that he has managed to make an error with his own kind that he thought he only made with other species]

Benny couldn't have told you - unless there is something in our future I don't know - but she insists, no matter how many brilliant manipulations I pull off, that I lack a certain amount of insight into human minutiae. Body language, relationships, cultural codes. Mind you, she also insisted that a wing dedicated to various rare and collectible carpets from across wouldn't be a success, and then the Jasicans opened up World of Carpet, which was a planet devoted to just that, and it has become one of the most popular intellectual sites in the galaxy. So I don't know how much credence we can give Bernice on the subject. And this has given me the perfect leverage for several years now to contradict her when she insists my Christmases on the Collection are tacky.

[he feels this has gone far enough from the subject at hand that he can stop]

[he appreciates the distraction, Brax, though he's mostly amused that you're babbling] An entire planet devoted to carpets? I'll have to add it to the list. ...And speaking of Christmases, I think I owe you a few gifts. [hope you liked those socks :3]

Ahhh. I'll have to call up my tailor to lengthen the cut of the legs of my suits.

[just for that, he's getting you atrocious ties instead >3] What's the point of wearing them if you're not gonna show them?

A misguided sense of duty, I can only assume.

[Braxiatel looks offended] No, I don't think anyone has ever made such a massive misjudgement of my character before.

[teasing] Says the man who has tacky Christmases.

According to Bernice, and we both know she can't be trusted in that respect.

[Brax likes his singing snowmen]

[dawww] Maybe by next Christmas I'll get to see it for myself. [he's totally inviting himself over, yep] It'd make up for last Christmas. [where he nearly died. again. :|]

Try not to cause any paradoxes when you do, will you? I'd rather not draw unnecessary attention of any temporal powers to KS-159.

Well, I've got no idea if the me in your universe is planning on dropping by, but if he does, I'll avoid him. [of course, he would probably avoid his Eighth self on the Plane, too]

[idly] Speaking of Christmases, you missed the snow. Didn't think there would be that sort of weather on the Plane.

It must have looked beautiful. I wish I'd been there to see it.

It was, yes. Missed out on a good chunk of it, unfortunately -- had a good sword fight instead of a snowball fight. [which is probably not the best thing to mention, but.]

[Oh look. His voice is flat again]

[grins] I did, yep! That's partly why I'm looking for this Crane bloke. He manipulated Emil into attacking people.

Hypnosis?

[shrugs] Not sure how he did it, actually. That's one of the things I'm gonna ask him. But I think it's got something to do with manipulating mental triggers that already exist -- both Diva and Emil have snapped before.

Like Omega. Well, a clever enough - or stupid enough - person can set off already fragile psyches without any great amount of effort. [not that Brax knows from personal experience or anything]

[he nods, and then quietly;] Ironically enough, it was Omega who saved me.
