[The Doctor is back again, but he doesn't look as though he's entirely there, so to speak. His eyes are haunted and weary -- seeing random glimpses of Gallifrey that only fade away again (not to mention the more permanent bits in his garden) is still taking a toll on his sanity. So he's escaping to the Plane in search of a distraction. Preferably one that involves ~~death traps~~ trouble. To anyone who might be willing to help him out in that department;]

Oi! Have any of you lot seen a bloke named Dr. Crane lately?

I think I know her a bit better than you do. I knew her when she was in love with dear Sam Tyler. No, strike that past tense out - that's an present tense infinitive we've got for this girl. And I know that she killed my other self. It was messy. Do you know what she threatened to do if I ever touched her precious DI Tyler?

And all of that long before your Dr Crane got to the scene.

Oh, you know, the kidnapping, torture, and eventual murder of the good officers of CID. That sort of thing. I wasn't able to join in on the fun, unfortunately.

[dryly] I'm not surprised she killed him, then. [not that that makes it okay, but]

I wasn't surprised either. But you're not surprised when I blow up planets and take over populations, are you? Take it to court and Diva would have been let go on temporary insanity. But the thing is, it isn't temporary. She's been mad ever since I knew her.

I half-expect her to rip out one of my hearts some day, just so I'll sound like her beloved Inspector.

What she needs is help, then. And not the sort of "help" Crane is giving her.

Mercy for a murderer, a maniac, and a rapist. Did she ever mention what she did to your TARDIS, by the way? Ohh, the fall out from that was delicious. I didn't think it was possible to do that to a machine.

[frowns] Never did get the full story on that one. I know they've been fighting, but...

Your ship has a half-dozen typical Time Lord prejudices, and Diva is, well, a vampire. As I understand it, the TARDIS pushed the vampire too far and dear, sweet, misunderstood Diva decided to put her back in her place.

[nods] Sounds about right, from what they told me. But the TARDIS never told me exactly what Diva did to her.

I don't have much experience on the subject, but I hear it's something people don't like to bring up.

Oi, you said " I didn't think it was possible to do that to a machine," which means you know what happened. Tell me.

Then to put it plainly: that vampire raped your timeship.

Rassilon, but that still sounds bizarre.

[darkly] Thinks I ought to have another chat with them.
