{As instructed by her agent, Diva has started to pick up dancing to add to her resume. Well, dancing that isn't ballroom dancing, anyways. To start off, she has picked up ballet, since according to her instructors, it's the basis for many other dances. Diva doesn't really mind about that, but she has been having fun with it.

As such, she's brought a section of the barre and its mirrors with her, which she's stretching against.}

I almost feel bad that I moved on to the intermediate class so fast, but I guess it's to be expected. Ne, I mean, it would have been the same if I had done another kind of exercise. I'm just naturally better than humans at things like this.

{She's mostly thinking aloud, but as if to demonstrate, moves to hold her leg up for a near-standing split. But then she's back to stretching normally, and sighs}

I'd rather do the partnered dancing, though. The stretching and dancing alone, it's boring. I could just do all of that here.

It's one with a happy ending. It has to be. A happy ending you have to work for. But you will get it.

Then I suppose everything in between will be alright. That's the kind of ending that I always wanted.

Ne, and for what it's worth, I think that Sam will have that kind of story too. You're too good a person not to. You deserve it more than anyone.

[but he smiles regardless, because with Diva, at least, he can allow himself to hope for a fairytale ending. She's a fairytale princess half the time, after all, and if the other half is a fairytale monster, at least Sam can bet safely on which side will win]

Oh, surely Sam does. I think in a story, Sam would be a hero, after all. I mean, you help a lot of people, right?

I do what I can, but there are better people. People who've done better with less. I don't deserve the happiest ending.

What's your idea of a "happy ending" anyways?

[considering this, because Annie and Gene have encouraged him to live in crazy fantasy world where endings aren't really something to worry about]

Dying of old age, probably, after leading a fulfilling life. Wife and kids and doing my job to the best of my ability...

Most people I know wouldn't even put dying into that. Or, at least not first.

{But that was only teasing, she promises} It's a nice ending, at least. I don't know if I can really have mine, but mine is just as simple sounding, I think. I just want a family. I don't know if I'd really like to die or not, though. I mean, since that's not really absolute for me. Ne, there's so much to learn, and see, and do, and I don't feel so weary about the world now that...

{She pauses, considering where she was going with that, then she laughs} I suppose now that I'm "free".

Would you adopt to get a family? [and by adopt he does NOT mean 'kidnap other people's kids,' Diva]

I don't know. Maybe eventually, but I decided that I want to at least wait until Saya wakes up. We made up before I died, so maybe sister and I could talk about it. There's only Haji, after all, and if she says no, then I think I'd consider it. But having human children, it would be so painful to watch them grow old and die. Even if that's a long time now, that's still so sad to even think about! But it might be the only option I have.

And that's what I feel like! Having children, that's something I don't know about at all. Why, Amshel had the idea that if I had children, I might become mortal because....because...{She pauses, trying to remember the words,}

It was something about biology and my species surviving. He was very fond of that man Darwin, you know. Ne, but it was basically that I wouldn't be needed anymore.

[at the Darwin comment] That's not surprising.

Your children would still need someone to raise them. Biology wouldn't be done with you that quickly?

Oh, just because I'm mortal, that doesn't mean that I would die right away, would it? It takes a long time anyways for us to stop developing. Fifty years, I think it was? So I should live that long, at least, you'd think.

Unless all those years catch up with you in a moment. You'd turn to dust in a second. [way to talk about happy things]

Well, in that case, I hope that it doesn't happen. I still don't know if I'd like to keep living forever, but I'm certainly not ready to die yet!

I don't ever want to die again, but I don't want to live forever. Are you afraid of death?

Oh, not really at all. It's a very real death every time that I die, I just get to come back. I've died more times than I can count, so I'm not scared of it anymore.

But I don't mean - I mean the end of it. Everything... stopping.

{She considers it for a moment, then speaks softly} I suppose only because I wouldn't be able to spend time with the people that I love anymore. That's really the only reason I have to be afraid of it. I can't really feel the same way about death as humans, I don't think. After all, even if it was so long ago, when Joel kept me in that tower, every day I hoped that everything would just stop. I mean, even only a while ago, before I could come to the Plane, I wanted to die. Death has never been that scary to me, because it's peace. Now it's only something I worry about because I have more of a reason to live at all. Ne, does that make sense? I don't know if it does or not.

[he inclines his head, a soft nod, and takes her hand to hold it gently]

Ne, but for now, I don't need to worry about dying. I'm not living such a dangerous life, after all. Just...interesting, I guess!

Oh, they're nothing to worry about! I think we're growing accustomed to each other now, so they're not visiting my house every week to make sure I'm not doing anything suspicious or something like that.

{Cheerfully,} I would be more worried about those photographers at this point! They follow me everywhere now. It's awful.
