[There are several piles of snow on the Plane today. There's enough of it to cover a small section of the 'floor' in it, as well as scatterings here and there. Arthur is sitting in the middle of it, dressed appropriately for the cold, at least, with a heavy winter jacket and large snow boots. His cheeks are a bright red, though whether this is because of the cold or the scotch currently being filtered by his body is anyone's guess.

There are tuffs of snow on his hair and clothes, but these are ignored in favor of the drawing in the snow he seems to be working on at the moment. Equations, to be exact]

[Handy is strolling along, hands in pockets, a bit distracted. He passes Arthur, not seeming to notice, and then upon realizing there is snow, he doubles back]

You brought snow. I love snow.

Isn't it wonderful? The winter months are by far my favorites.

[Handy may note that there is a slight slurr to Arthur's words, though they're still easy enough to comprehend]

[The Doctor leans down and tilts his head, looking at the equation. He adds his own measurements on the side and sits down.]

There we are then! That's better.

[grins a little as he sits down, noticing that slur]

Someone seems in high spirits.

[Arthur glances at the added measurements, grinning as he works them into a new equation] Thank you. It'll be much simpler to figure out, at this rate.

[still working on the equation, even as he humms contently] Hard not to be, really. I spent the day with Charles.

[Reinette glances at it with a somewhat restrained smile]

And here I thought I had seen an end to the snow this season.

[Arthur has his complete attention now] Charles? [raises an eyebrow, smiling] And who's he, then?

Oh it's still snowing, in my reality. I suppose the seasonal changes might not match up.

[He looks up at her, smiling] 'ello, I'm Arthur Eddington.

[He laughs.] You were doing fine on your own, really. Just couldn't help adding a note.

I suppose not, no. Nothing is particularly routine in this place.

[her smile grows in measures]

A very good friend of mine. He gives lectures at a university in London, but he's spending several days in Manchester.

We went out drinking.

[Arthur pauses mid-variable, and it looks as if he's thinking] I like your laugh. Which is probablly strange to think, considering it's my own laugh, but I think it sounds nice.

[and he's right back to writing out his equation]

Oh? Well, I do rather like it. It has a nice tone. Though, I pay more attention to it because it does vary through regenerations. I liked my Eighth's laugh, now that I think about it.

Yes, Winnie's already set up a room for him at the house. She even helped me find the old tobogan that we'd brought with us during the move.

The old toboggan? [grins] Well, it sounds like you'll have fun enough, going to the pub, tobogganing, whatever else you two might get up to.

Mine hasn't changed in quite a few years, now that I think about it. It might still, once I start getting older.

Theater and cinema, if we can find the time. Charles particularly enjoys the theater.

[pauses and he is just to be blunt, because he likes gossip and wants to know]

So do you fancy him, then?

Likely it will. The vocal folds change as one gets older, I think. Just slight differences. What are you doing, by the way?

We normally eat at home; he likes Winnie's cooking.

[without the slightest pause or change in tone] A bit, I suppose. He's a really good friend.

[Handy thinks Arthur is adorable, and he's a little surprised at how easily Arthur admits it. He assumes this is due to alcohol and Charles though, so he doesn't think too much about it.]

A really good friend? And he fancies you as well, I'm assuming. Would be foolish not to, even superficially, looks alone you turned out quite well.

[and might puff up a little at that last bit because vanity and complimenting yourself is sort of fun]

I'm tobogganing with Charles. I thought I'd finally figured out how to work out this variable here, though, [he points at a particular part of the original equation] and I wanted to try it out.
