This whole time? Nope. The last, oh, three days?

Ah, so that's why you disappeared.

But who is Mickey?

Forgot you wouldn't know him. Mickey Smith, gamer extraordinaire, [that description is accompanied by a well-deserved eyeroll] is my latest companion.

I believe your Tenth said he travelled with Rose Tyler, who has also appeared here. I take it that would be a difference between your personal timelines, then? [frowns faintly] Is he a good companion? I always did prefer your male companions to your female ones. Then again, most companions would be better than Charlotte, with whom we're travelling now. All of her incessent questioning about the divergent universe is beginning to grow bothersome. [long-suffering sigh] But you always did fancy the inquisitive ones. I wonder, though, if your timeline and mine share this particular escapade.

[a shrug] He's not bad. Can't let him near electronics, I should've learned that after the microwave incident. He's addicted, even when they're over his head. Has to take everything apart, try and play with it. And I've had to install Net Nanny to keep him from junking up the computers. Net Nanny! Can you imagine?

I'm not sure which is worse: someone with no knowledge tickering about with technology, or someone with an inkling who gets in over his head. I do so hope he hasn't tried tinkering with me, Doctor. You know how much I hate that.

Good. So long as he listens. You do have a habit of picking up companions who aren't the most obedient lot.

They wouldn't be interesting otherwise.

I beg to differ, Doctor. I'd like to think my temperament makes everything as interesting as needs be.

[has to stifle a laugh] You're fantastic. Really. But that's no reason to go taking on dull passengers.

[grins in response, the cheeky thing] I know I am, Doctor. You can continue to tell me, though. At any rate, if you must take on companions, you could at least make sure they aren't annoying. I should like more Brigadiers or Nyssas or Turloughs. Perhaps even another Sarah Jane, as much trouble as she got into. Adrics would be nice. I could deal without the Tegans and Peris, though. Honestly, Doctor, I wonder about your sanity sometimes with these companions.

I'll keep that in mind.

Oh, but Tegan was sweet! [pause, grimacing] In her way. Same for Peri, even if she had to question every little thing I-- Anyway, she was a good girl. Both of them were.

[shakes her head and smiles] I suppose so, Doctor. At any rate, they cared for you a great deal, and you for them, much to my chagrin. But they did make you happy. I can't very well fault them for that, can I?

I'd hope not.

... I never did give you a hug in all that confusion last time, did I?

[blinks, surprised] Ah...no, I don't believe you did, Doctor.

We should correct that then. [grins, holding out his arms]

[grins, then gives him a hug, petting his back and running her hands through his hair because she's obsessed like that]

[and if this were anyone but the TARDIS he would've ran far, far away - but instead he continues to hug her for a bit before disentangling himself]

You're the only companion who's not going anywhere. Cut the others some slack, yeah?

[gives him a look, as if to say she wasn't finished hugging, but nods, a playful smile on her lips] I'll do my best, Doctor, but only because you asked so nicely.

[affectionate pat on the head] That's my girl.
