[madamemoiselle]

{Diva is lounging quite comfortably on a couch she's brought to the Plane, wearing very little. Propped against her knees is the The Poetical Works of Lord Byron that Sam has given her. She's also brought a few magazines, one of which seems to have a picture of her on the cover, but it's mostly obscured by a knife that she's been meaning to return.

But in the meantime, she reads aloud, occasionally stammering over a word or two.}

I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air;
Morn came and went--and came, and brought no day,
And men forgot their passions in the dread

{But after that bit, she stops, smiling brightly}

Ne, that sounds like the Plane, doesn't it? Well, maybe not so much the last part, but I bet some people here would think that anyways. I can't, though. It's too nice here. Still, how lovely! Did Lord Byron get to come to this place, I wonder?

{She shakes her head though, laughing} Ne, it wouldn't really surprise me. There isn't too much about this place that surprises me anymore. But it'd be nice to actually meet him! I really do love his poems.

{But the thought is soon dismissed, and she reads the rest of the poem quietly.}

Nothing too terrible. It was terrifying, but most definitely in the fun way.

This girl ends up possessed by the devil, so her mum calls up a priest and they try to get it out of her.

The bit with her coming down the stairs all spider like.

Oh~ That does sound scary! Ne, I never understood that idea, though, being possessed. Does that really happen?

That'd be awful! I can't even imagine, having something controlling you like that and you're helpless to stop it. I think they said it was based on true things, too. Can't really say how true true is though. People are bound to make things up from time to time.

Well, of course. Though, coming here, it makes you think that a lot more than what you expected is real, doesn't it?

It does. Things that should seem mad staring you right in the face. It's all too mind boggling at times.

It's still taking some adjusting, but I think so. And I do get to meet people I'd never dream of back home.

{Laughs} Probably not! Though, could you really talk with anyone about them, even at home, I wonder? It seems like that kind of literature became...Ne, is it "specialty"? I think that's the word for it.

"Specialty" I think is the perfect word.

There are mates from university I could try it out on. Not really anyone in CID. Well, there is Sam, but I'd feel funny just bringing it up out of the blue.

Oh, well Sam would certainly know! He's the one that gave me this book, after all.

But a university? Ne, that's where really smart people go, isn't it?

I wouldn't say that as a rule. A fair share at university were miles from smart.

{Nods} After I mentioned that I liked Lord Byron. Well, that was when I was in that church too, so there wasn't much to do.

Oh, really? A lot has changed, then! I remember Amshel told me that the first time I went to sleep, he went to a university. It was only for the wealthy or elite then, so...Has that changed?

There are a load of smart people. There are just some real idiots, too. Some just get to go because their families have cash to throw around.

As part of that experiment~ For a little while in Italy, I was staying in a church as a nun, and that's where I ended up for the experiment.

What era were you in Italy for?

Most go to learn, some go because their parent want them to, some go to get a good job, some go to have fun. Most go to learn, I think, but there are the exceptions.

Hm...I think it was 1910 or so? It was the end of the Great War, er...the first World War.

Why did you go, then?

I went for the learning. [her tone gets lower, almost secretive] Can't deny I had a bit of fun in the process.

Oh no, it was terrible! I couldn't do anything. Which is why Sam got me these books. Just something to do.

I'm sorry, it sounds awful.

Nothing too earth shattering. Just the usual sorts of trouble you get into in university. Parties and blokes and maybe some alcohol might have played a role.
