016 - As The World Falls Down
[There is a new arrival to the plane.
One that is quite large.
And expansive garden labyrinth has appeared, stretching as far as it is wide. The hedges are tall and well groomed, and it in all but impossible to see over any of the walls. Throughout the structure, there are many points to rest, ornately carved stone benches frames with flowers. Especially tuberose.
It is her favorite, after all.
At the very center sits Reinette on the wall of a stone fountain. Water flows from several wells within a stone Minotaur, coating its surface so that it reflects that distant lights of the Plane.

Fantastic gardener. Nearly forget that was part of your CV.

My CV?

[moves over to where she's sitting and picks up the book]
Anything good?

[she watches as he studies the book]
Nothing of note. Merely a collection of poetry.

[flips through the book and then places it back on the bench and he'll be looking around the center of the labyrinth now]
This is impressive. [stands on tip toes, trying to examine the edges of the hedge and then turns back around] You're just showing off now, aren't you?

[she cannot quite grasp it, something that unplanned. But this is nothing new between them]
It actually took several years to design and implement. But when it was finished I decided it would be well served here.
[she smiles]
And of course not. You think me capable of such?

[plays with the hedges a bit while examining them]
Well, the effort wasn't wasted.
[returns attention to Reinette once again and grins]
I must've forgotten myself. Of course you're not.

Of course.

Well, this is lovely. You're not going to miss it back in France?

I had it constructed for one of my more minor properties. It sits so far outside of Paris I am rarely there. I think, truthfully, I will spend more time with it here.
And I thought others might enjoy it.

Then I'm glad you brought it, seems to be the right choice.
I quite like it, so there's that.

Did it take you long to find the center?
no subject
Wasn't really keeping track of the time. Got lost once or twice, that was fun, but can't really say if it took long or not.
It was nice, one way or the other.
[stops in front of Reinette]
Did it take you very long?
no subject
It look very close to three years to complete.
[she still marvels at that. An idea so long in inception, carried here with one more thought]

I meant how long did it take you to find the center.
no subject
I always knew where it was. I designed it.

But someone must organize the entertainments others enjoy. It is a role I long filled for Louis.

The changes in my life serve as entertainment enough.
