[Everyone loves Chris and Ray so here they are! It's break time at CID and since Plane breaks are never ending, they are spending it here. They luv escaping work. You'll note the amount of food on the desk - MUFFINS ARE IN THERE - signals that they expect to be a while. The fact that Chris seems to be happily explaining something of great importance to Ray is also good to note. He's even holding up something. What is it?! It's about a comic book! Yes. That's what he's holding up to Ray.

It's very important, all right?] See, Ray, he'll smash the car and then he can throw it. 'Cos that'll take care of anything.

[Oh yeah, Chris is going to stroke that so hard. Maybe a little soft, too. Just to mix it up.] Yeah? I'm usually that stuff. I think. Maybe not the whole relaxed bit. But the other stuff, yeah.

[Chris, how the hell did you get good at that? I mean, really.] Probably the fact you're nervous, yeah. Mean, bein' friendly and all is good, yeah? But if you don't got confidence, 's all for nowt. Gotta have confidence.

[Lots of stroking practice. Back in school, you know. With those other boys.] But the confidence don't just happen, Ray.

[Ray wants to hear aaaall about that. Do go on. ...Well, not the boys part, but you know, the stuff about stroking adventures.] Well, it ain't gonna happen if you don't work at it, neither.

[Well hey, he had to learn to get those bullies off...of him. So he got real good at this stroking business.] I am! Been trying to. Trying to sound like I know a lot.

[Yeah, and now he puts it to use on Ray, who is his own personal bully. And by 'own personal', I mean he teases you a bit, but he totally will rip to shreds people who mess with you. Clearly your stroking has gotten you far in life, Chris.] You don't gotta know a lot, Chris. Shit, in that poem thing I did, I flat out admitted I didn't know a thing 'bout poetry. But I just played it like I were interested. And confident enough where I could laugh at me own shortcomin' towards it.

[Chris knows the right people to stroke.] Well, yeah, but...I dunno, Ray. Just ain't easy for me to do like that.

[That is because despite appearances, Chris is Very Smart.] Still say with practice you'd be damn good at it. You're just late to start at it, 's all.

[He has good observational skills!] Yeah, I'm trying but it don't work as well.

[Which assist him in knowing when to stroke, and what to stroke, am I right?] And how many times do I gotta tell ya it ain't gonna work overnight?

[He's been watching Ray a while now and knows just how to stroke him. It's heavy stroking, too. Wide-eyed and impressed at him.] Yeah but Ray, I've been trying it for a while now.

[Maybe he'll return the favour, Chris. And give you a thorough stroking later. Won't that be fun?] You must be doin' somethin' wrong then.

[Ray will stroke him back? Really?] I dunno what I'm doing wrong, though.

[Well, maybe. You know, if Chris is up for it. And not many people are. Ray shrugs.] As is, can't tell you. I don't follow you 'round on your dates to give you help.

[Chris is pretty eager for it, to be honest. He likes stroking Ray but a little back sometimes would be nice.] Uh, what if you did? A little, you know?

[Fine, fine. Ray'll return the favour. He'll make it the best, too. Nothing will ever be able to compare.] What, keep tabs on you and tell you what you were doin' wrong or sommat?

[Coming from Ray, it'll be especially important stroking, too.] Uh, well, yeah, maybe? Unless it's impossible or something.

[Important and the best, yeah. After all, he's spent all the years in CID stroking Gene, and if he's able to please him, then, hell, Ray must be good.] Nah, think I could do it. Been doin' enough surveillance that I could probably tail you and a bird without either of you noticin'. [Maybe.]

[Chris tries to stroke Gene but he's not very good at it. He's getting better at stroking Sam, though!] Yeah? Wonder if we could test it.

[Yeah, Gene... takes well placed and very careful stroking. But once you have it down, it's a breeze. But let's leave the stroking of Gene out of this. Also the stroking of Sam.] You could, uh, just go out a few places, tell me where, and I could tail you. Least to test, I mean.

[Yeah, this is just about stroking between two best friends.] Hey, could probably use those mobiles. Makes it easier.

[Which is the best kind of stroking. It's so not as awkward, on the basis of you already know the other guy pretty much completely.] What do you mean?

[The better you know the guy, the easier it is to stroke him, too.] Like, dunno, did you try that...texting, thing?

[Because you know exactly how he likes it.] Yeah, been messin' with it. But I don't think your bird would like you lookin' at your mobile again and again.

[But here's the real question: is Ray going to stroke back anytime soon?] Yeah but I could be sneaky about it, you know? Really careful and hide it and stuff.
