[Out of nowhere, Shawn bounds into the Astral Plane carrying a very large stuffed purple bear that says "HUG ME" in bright green letters on its belly. He plops the bear down and stands there for a minute, seeming quite satisfied with himself- his usual big, toothy grin in full force.]

"So! Interesting story." [He announces to the Astral Plane and gestures to the bear.] "Mostly involving guns...and this..giant, purple stuffed bear I've affectionately christened Mabel."

[A pause.]

"As of yesterday's County Fair, I am officially Santa Barbara California's 'sharpest little shooter.' With a gun."

[He's even got demonstrative evidence- the gun used. He raises a clear, plastic neon squirt gun and pumps the trigger twice with a finger, giving two 'squirts' straight up into the air.]

"A big responsibility, I know. But I'm mostly confident I can handle it. Please, at your whimsy, feel free to come closer and admire the sweetness." [He flips the water pistol on a finger and hooks it on his belt in a rather showy fashion.] "I am, after all, not really armed."

You mean a real deal, true blue alien? [Shawn eyes Rose, trying to figure out if she's pulling his leg or not.]

Well, he's not blue, but yeah, definitely an alien. Looks like us, but he's got two hearts.

.......[He's clearly trying to think up something clever to add. A pun, maybe.]

..Nope. [shrugs] I've got nothing but B.E.P references.

[smiles, and then suddenly has a mini epiphany]

Oh! Hey. You never did say what you did- other than traveling with this Doctor guy.

We....ran for our lives a lot. But mostly just traveled.

Alien road trip! Sounds like a blast.

Definitely was. Traveling time and space is always fun, even if you're on the verge of becoming a human sacrifice to appease a planet.

[Raises an eyebrow] Rotisserie style sacrifice?

Not really. Have you ever seen those movies where they have a girl lying on an alter in an ancient temple and a crazy priest is about to stab her in the chest?

Pretty much exactly like that.

Yes, and I think one was called Andromeda. Although I could very well be wrong.

[frowns lightly]

But no wonder you guys have to keep running away. - if everyone out there.. [he looks around, and quickly corrects himself] here, just wants human a la mode. But, tell me. Not all aliens want to deep fry us, right?

It is, really, considering how many are really out there. Sorta like....oh, I know. Have you ever seen Men In Black? It's sorta like that.

Ah! [Of course, his burst of understanding comes with the movie reference.]

Are you the Will Smith in the equation, or is that this Doctor buddy of yours?

Dunno, really. I think he would be. He's the funnier one, anyway. But he knew he what he was doing, and I didn't...so....could go either way.

For the sake of time, we can just wrap it up all nice and say you're both him.

...Although I think that'd make me the little one inside that guy's brain... Mike Nussbaum? [trails off and finally just shakes his head.]

I honestly have no idea. To be frank - I was just trying to put myself into the story. [He says, with an amusing deadpan, which then melts into a smile.]

Oh, well, that works, then. Or you could be one of the Men in Black. Isn't there another one?

Rose, the man had thinning hair. [Runs a hand through his own, meticulously styled 'doo, being careful not to mess it up.] Not to toot my own hairy horn, but I think the equation falls apart right there.

.. [Hesitates] Rose? I know we've just barely met, but I need to ask a dire favor of you.
