056: Revolution #9

[contract_star]

[Hei is in his hut and is putting maps on the wall. One is a detailed map of Japan; the other is a slightly less detailed map of East Asia, including most of China, Indonesia and Japan. Once the maps are properly hung on a wall, Hei drops from the Plane and comes back with a plane desk, the surface empty save for a box of push pins and a yellow notepad with half of the papers torn out. Hei starts looking over the contents of the notepad and pushing push pins into various spots on both maps.]

[At one point he steps back and looks the maps over; there are pins in a few spots in Japan, two in China, and one in Tibet. Hei nods to himself, then drops from the Plane again. He's gone for a few minutes, popping back in to drop things off--Mao, a bowl of cat food, and finally a large platter of food for himself. Hei and Mao each dig into their own food, while Hei continues to flip through some of the notes.]

[Pulls himself to a sitting position, clutching his stomach and trying not to throw up.]

[A final cough and he pulls himself to his feet. Ugh that's gonna be a bad bruise :\]

The latter.

So what's the plan so far?

[contract_star]

[Pulls himself into the chair, situating himself between Deadpool and the food.]

There isn't much of one. For now it's just "figure out how to get Contractors from one point to another without the Syndicate catching them."

[mercwamouth]

No teleporting Contractors?

[contract_star]

Plenty, but none on our side that I know of.

[mercwamouth]

Can the Syndicate detect you guys or do they just keep track of you all?

[contract_star]

They can track us with their Doll network.

[mercwamouth]

Oh right. Those.

How do you hide from them normally?

[contract_star]

You don't.

[mercwamouth]

Then why aren't you dead?

[contract_star]

Dolls can only send their specters so far, and of course they need to know where to look. And if you stay away from their medium, you're fine--the trouble is figuring out what their medium is.

[mercwamouth]

But I mean, they have to know what to look for too. Disguises are good for one thing. Distractions too. Plus pretty much everyone in Japan looks the same anyway, so I'm sure that'll make blending in easy.

You could also stay in public places and prevent them from making any moves since they want to keep Contractors out of the spotlight or whatever.

[Hei nods, taking stock of the suggestions. And gonna ignore the Asian jab.] There's also the problem that whenever a Contractor uses his or her ability, their star reacts. The Astronomy Division can find you pretty quickly that way.

For now I think the best idea is to hide. And that includes hiding in plain sight.

Hiding and deceiving are good plans when you're outnumbered. Just as long as you're not just waiting.
