[Misaki is in the Astral kitchen, doing... well, it's not entirely clear WHAT she's doing. There are pots bubbling over on the stove, produce everywhere, piles of dishes in the sink and the oven is starting to smoke out of both sides as though attempting to cry.]

[Misaki squeaks and opens the door, releasing a black avalanche of smoke. She starts coughing, squints through the black fog, and her eyes go wide.]

[Very gingerly, she shuts the oven door, switches it off, and leans her back against it.]

...oops.

[And she proceeds to have a gigglefit.]

I don't think she liked the things I forgave her for, but yes, I think it was sincere.

[frowns at the first thing]

I mean I've been harboring a lot of anger over things that happened... a while ago. And regardless of whether or not she felt the need to be forgiven, I needed to let it go. [She shrugs.] You can't hate a child for being a child. It may not be exactly the same, but... it's close enough to still be true.

[his frown deepens, but it's Sam, so what are you going to do]

I don't even know most of what's between you two.

Neither d--did Hei. [She stares into space for a moment, then smiles at him.] It doesn't really matter now, anyway.

But there's something else.

Do you know what she told me, when I said she has to have a life of her own, outside of just trying to make you happy? That you should be equals and friends, that just love might not be enough?

That men and women in a relationship necessarily aren't equals. That women are the weaker sex, and that she doesn't mind being controlled if it's by someone she loves.

A while? [grimace] I don't know, time works differently here. I have no idea of anything but the calendar back home, and I don't think that matches up to this place.

And you didn't notice that she thought that way? You didn't... [She sighs and rubs her temples.] I'm not blaming you, I want you to know that, but...

All right, fine. [She frowns.] I want to know how you can be so apparently close to someone and not realize she thinks it's a woman's natural state to be a tool.

It's not exactly something that comes up over dinner. "Hey, Diva, so now that you've divulged the horrors of your past, tell me your thoughts on sexism."

Stereotyping. And stereotypes lead to prejudice and prejudice is what creates sexism.

I listened; I just don't want to listen to a lecture. She has problems with dependency, I know that. I've known that for a while. And I... know that she puts a lot of it on me.

I thought it had more to do with her Chevalier than outdated social beliefs.

[Sorry, Sam. She's particularly sensitive on this issue. Even her DAD, at one point or another, has tried to turn her into the NPA's dancing PR bear.] Did you ask her to apologize to me?

I told her that my forgiveness didn't matter, because I'm not the one she hurt.
