Ne, after talking to the twins, I have something nice for everyone! Since without a merger, it might be hard to talk to people here, I thought it'd be nice if we could at least send each other letters. So, according to the Twins, as long as you put the recipient's name on your letter and put it in here, it'll get there. Oh, and packages too, but they said that the things inside can't be alive, alright? Just anything you'd send through the mail normally!

{She hops off with a smile, tapping the top}

Mm, I mean, it means a lot since it's from you. I've gotten lots of gifts from suitors, but I've barely kept any of them. They just tend to get lost between the times I'm awake. Those are things like jewels, expensive clothes, other fancy, beautiful things, but they don't have that same meaning, you know.

I mean, that teddy bear and scarf that Sam gave me for Christmas, those are worth more to me than any amount of gold.

Why did you name yourself after that?

Mm, well, my favorite story in Russia was La Divinia Comedia, actually. Grigori read it to me often.

Which half was your favourite?

Oh, Inferno, of course. That was all that we actually read, but Grigori told me about Purgatorio and Paradiso. It was how he taught me Italian, actually, so when I speak it to people now, they're always surprised how formally I speak. But I guess that's true of any of the languages I learned before German. French, Italian, Latin, and Russian, I mean. English not as much since I have to speak it so often, but it's different~

I suppose it's easier to come down from the formal language than rise up from the informal one.

Oh, especially in languages like Italian or French, really. The older dialects sound really different from the modern ones. So you have to train your tongue to speak differently. Modern words are hard too in older dialects, I've found! For French anyways. I don't really speak Italian anymore, but my Chevalier and I always spoke French to each other.

Could you speak it - let me hear the difference?

{Nods, and she speaks in the dialect of the mid 19th century, which I would demonstrate for you if I knew what it sounded like. I only know there was a difference, oops. But with the more modern French,}

Le Français est vraiment une langue merveilleuse. Je veux dire, il est très élégant toute l'heure.

The difference is like the difference of the dialects of French. They sound different if you've trained your ear for one. I actually used to have the Eastern France dialect, but when Grigori was teaching me, he made me speak in the Parisian French instead.

I'm afraid the distinction mostly went over my head.

But if it's as any different from Parisian French as Manunian is from Scouse, I know what that sort of gap means.

Then you know what I mean well enough! Ne, but languages is something I've always been good at. Probably the only...ah..."academic", I think it is, thing that I'm good at.
