[a man appears on the Plane; he is young, but his face is lined with anxiety (marred, here and there, by very thin scars, easy to miss if one isn't looking), and there is the faintest hint of silver in his pale brown hair (straight, falling almost to his shoulders)]
What is this?
[his wand is out in moments, of course, yanked from the makeshift holster beneath his long dark robes (a bit tattered, a bit worn); it looks like a smooth branch, save for the sparks erupting from the end]
Whoever is behind this, you should know I don't break easily, and you'll very likely be worse off for trying. [his voice is even and quiet, almost polite, but it is also hard, and determined; his eyes dart this way and that, his stance ready to shift in an instant]
Now stop toying with me, I have work to do.

{She laughs cheerfully} But you don't need to worry. This place is safe.

{Thoughtfully}...I guess they're dangerous, but...well, bad things don't happen here often.

[peers at her, finally lowering his wand] Which are you, if you don't mind my asking?

{She curtsies politely} It's very nice to meet you, Remus. Ah, and welcome to the Astral Plane!

{Sweetly} Ne, but I think the best thing is those people here! I mean, as long as I've lived, I've never had so many friends. What you are doesn't matter here, so even though I'm what humans think of as a monster, they don't hate me for no reason.

[but something like hope brightens his eyes and curves his lips as she speaks; desperate, yearning hope] I'm glad you found this place, then.

Ah, but if it's alright for me to ask, what kind of place is your home? I mean, I've never seen anyone use real magic before, just heard stories or seen it sometimes here.

It's...more two worlds than one, really. One with magic, and one without. The Wizarding World has been keeping itself as much a secret as possible for centuries now. It's even more stringent in England than most. [faint smile] I was lucky enough to grow up knowing both.

{Nods} So then what is the Wizarding World like? Does everyone practice magic?
no subject
Well, it differs across the world - in England, we have our secret havens, like Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, places where we don't have to hide. Most of the people who know about magic have it, yes - that or they're relatives, or Squibs. Children born to wizards who don't have the gift.

{Thoughtfully} But persecution, really? I guess you mean that normal peo--Muggles. They wouldn't like it, I suppose. They certainly don't like me, so I can only imagine what a wizard would be like.
