[O hay plane, remember Dorothy Gale? The little girl from Kansas who... well, is kind of tall now, actually, and not really so little anymore, but shut up. She's been gone for a month. A MONTH. Why the absence, you may be wondering.

Well, here she is, carrying a little tooled-leather trunk and what appears to be a chocolate shake. Why don't you go ASK her?]

[She frowns.] I should have brought something for everyone, I just forgot. Awful caught up in myself, lately. Terrible selfish of me. Next time, I'll make it up to you, I promise!

[looks thoughtful for a minute, then searches for a way to shift the mood back, reaching into his pocket and grabbing the coin.]

Will Dorothy make up for this?

[he flips the coin, then covers it with his hand before either of them can see the result]

Should I look or should I just assume it's heads?

[She puts her hand over his and shakes her head]

I promised, and I always keep my word.

[gives his hand a look, and then puts the coin away again without looking at the result]

All right then. So no reason to worry, since we know this will all be made up for. Now, what else do you have in that box of goodies?

Well, it's true! Did you want a dissertation on it, or what?

[peeks inside the trunk again] I'd just show you, but some of the stuff in here is kind of dangerous in the wrong hands.

[tries to get a glance inside the trunk]

I'm the wrong hands?

[holds the trunk out to the side, away from him]

Well, you're not exactly an expert, are you? I can't just let you dive in headfirst, it'd be like letting a four-year-old drive a tank!

[scoots along with the trunk, still trying to get a look] Now I'm a four year old?

[holds it out to the other side! It is possible she is just enjoying watching him shuffle around to try and follow the thing.]

In terms of your experience with this sort of stuff, yeah! You're not very good with analogies, are you?

[hugging the trunk to her chest] If I let you see some of this stuff, will you promise not to steal anything or break anything or accidentally blow anything up?

[well then she will continue enjoying himself, because he shuffles over, following it and then stops when she pulls it to her chest]

Well, now, I can't promise not to do something accidentally, can I? The entire point of something being accidental is it's beyond my control.

[bouncing a little on his feet, looking around as in thought before looking back at Dorothy]

Can I just promise I'll try my best?

[pressing her lips together in thought, she glances at the trunk, at Handy, back at the trunk, back at Handy, etc.]

Hmm.

[DRAMATIC PAUSE.]

Okay. Gather 'round, lemme learn ya some stuff.

[She plops the trunk down on the ground and sits in front of it crosslegged, patting the spot next to her. All they need is carpet squares and it'll be just like kindergarten!!]

[he might be bouncing a little on his feet, impatiently}

Oh come on.

[stares at that pause]

All right.

[grins and drops down next to her, sitting crosslegged too. Kindergarten, woohoo. Can they get legos too?]

[Only if he eats all his carrot sticks and finishes his milk at snacktime :| Dorothy pulls out a very elaborate silver handmirror from the trunk and carefully hands it to him]

We picked this up from Princess Langwidere's quarters in the royal palace in Ev. Glinda says it reeks of magic, but nobody's sure exactly what it does. Could be dangerous, or it could be something simple as a truth mirror.

[but he doesn't want to! ....fine :| He is excited and watches her pull out the mirror. He's careful when he takes it, examining his own reflection]

[Watches him carefully, but pretty amused]

Yeah, you know, "Mirror Mirror On The Wall", and all that. Ask a question, get the true answer. Fairly common magical objects-- mirrors never lie, you know.

[considers it for a minute before handing it back to her]

I think I'll pass.

[scratches the back of his neck]

So, what else do you have?

[she takes it back, grinning, and carefully puts it back in the trunk]

Fair enough. Let's see, something Henry'll like...

[moving aside some things, she comes up with a green glass bottle, the kind you could find in a corner store, with a plain cork stopper wedged in its neck. It appears to be empty.]

Bet you'll never guess what's in here!

[looks at, curious]

[holds the bottle up to the light, in front of him]

It's the first breath of the North Wind. Just a little bit of it, obviously, but what's in this bottle has more magic than most witches do. If you look carefully, you can see it swirling around in there.

[leans in studying it, and might've grinned a little larger when he actually does spot the swirling]

I wonder what's really going on in there.

[he says this in a distracted way, because he's still busy watching the swirling]

[She watches him for a moment, thinking]

...Henry, do you know what magic is? I mean, the essence of it, the basis of it all?

[She hands the bottle to him]

It's life. Life from nothing at all. That's what's in that bottle.
