[O hay plane, remember Dorothy Gale? The little girl from Kansas who... well, is kind of tall now, actually, and not really so little anymore, but shut up. She's been gone for a month. A MONTH. Why the absence, you may be wondering.

Well, here she is, carrying a little tooled-leather trunk and what appears to be a chocolate shake. Why don't you go ASK her?]

Yeah. Went to spend some time with family for New Year's. Finally got back yesterday, and... oh, I love my family, and all, but it feels like I'm finally breathing again, y'know?

[She grins.] Wanna see something neat?

[He nods.] Know what you mean. I like seeing my sister and all but holidays get like that.

[Then he's curious.] Yeah, sure, what is it?

[She grins and puts her trunk down, opening it and rummaging around through it until she finds a narrow green glass bottle with what appears to be a bubble wand in it. Straightening, she opens the bottle, removes the wand and blows an enormous, shimmering bubble, which she then gently blows in Chris's direction.

It wafts over and gently lands on his head... and doesn't pop. Huh!]

[Chris finds this to be amazing!]

Bloody hell... Never seen a bubble do that before. How'd you do that? [He reaches up, not quite touching it, tipping his head a bit to try to see it.]

Added some sap from a certain kind of pine tree to the bubble stuff, that's why it smells all piney-fresh. Go ahead, you can touch it! That bubble'll last at least five hours before it pops.

[She does not say that by "a certain kind" she means "enchanted". Ah well, whatever.]

[Chris touches it now, eyes widening just a bit as he's able to pull it off his head and hold it without it popping. He starts bouncing it in his hands, a dorky grin coming to his face.]

Blimey, that's some tree. I used to do these when I was a kid. [He bounces it up over his head, smiling up as it floats.] Uh, ta, for this. I like it.

[Smiling, she screws the top back on the narrow bottle tightly and holds it out to Chris]

[He blinks, then accepts it.] Happy New Year. We just had New Year's, too. 1974 now. [He holds up the bubbles.] Might be the best thing to happen so far.

Yeah? You've been through it? [He looks surprised.] Blimey, that's far ahead. I wonder what I'm doing, then.

Me too! I could write a letter to future-you, if you'd like. But it might be a different universe, and you might never've heard of me.

[He laughs a little.] I believe it. I think I'd believe anything about here. You do, though. Real good.

Could always try, yeah? Wouldn't mind a letter, I bet.

You'd never guess I'll be 117 this year, would you? Ah, that's the beauty of magic. You never have to grow up if you don't want to.

Well, I'll try! You never know if you'll be living in the same place or not.
