[the Ninth Doctor appears in the astral plane just in time for his jaws to close on empty air] Well, that's... Hmm. [a confused pause, in which the Doctor is turning around in a complete circle and looking for a door or a hole or some other plausible explanation for how he got to where he's currently standing] Normally I'd suspect a wrong turn, but that's a bit difficult when you're sitting still with the parking brake on.

[he takes a few steps and then stops and bounces up and down in place] Solid enough. Good to know, 'cause I'd hate to... [trails off, frowning] No, that's enough playing along. Where's my TARDIS? Or, for that matter, my sandwich?

Look, if you're going to go to the trouble of beaming someone out of their own chair mid-meal, you could have the decency to show up. It's common courtesy.

[a silence that stretches for what seems like several minutes, but was probably just a few seconds] What, am I talking to myself here?

After you took me for a trip, said I'd only been gone for 12 hours, but really it was twelve months, and while we were trying to deal with my mum's wrath, some aliens crashed into big ben, and when you ran off and I was a bit insecure 'bout it, you gave me the key, so I'd know you'd come back.

[a long, slow exhale] Right then. Could be alternate--

I guess I would. I'm gonna take a wild guess from your earlier reaction and say he's not around?

He's not, no. His, um, regeneration is--tall, skinny bloke in pinstripes with crazy hair, if you see him, that's how you end up in your next body--but not, y'know....him.
