[the Ninth Doctor appears in the astral plane just in time for his jaws to close on empty air] Well, that's... Hmm. [a confused pause, in which the Doctor is turning around in a complete circle and looking for a door or a hole or some other plausible explanation for how he got to where he's currently standing] Normally I'd suspect a wrong turn, but that's a bit difficult when you're sitting still with the parking brake on.

[he takes a few steps and then stops and bounces up and down in place] Solid enough. Good to know, 'cause I'd hate to... [trails off, frowning] No, that's enough playing along. Where's my TARDIS? Or, for that matter, my sandwich?

Look, if you're going to go to the trouble of beaming someone out of their own chair mid-meal, you could have the decency to show up. It's common courtesy.

[a silence that stretches for what seems like several minutes, but was probably just a few seconds] What, am I talking to myself here?

I can't tell you what happened to yours, but I can manage a pulled pork.

[masking surprise] Nope, grilled cheese. Pulled pork's not bad though, I could go for one.

[takes a plastic bag out of his pocket, pulls out half a pulled pork sandwich, and offers it with a smile] I'm Dexter, by the way.

I'll just have to keep asking then.

[he takes it and decides to stick it in his own pocket since this is no time for a snack] Great, thanks, I'm the Doc-- [swivels 'cause he just heard another voice]

[he's going to get a neck cramp from all this neck swiveling]

[smirks, trying to only speak when there's a chance for this guy's sake]

Really? The other guy doesn't look anything like you, either. Is it a title that gets passed on?

[once he finally gets a breather]

[giving him an odd look]

[laughs a bit] I bet you're the life of every party with your banana.

[shrugs] Yeah. Even though you can leave, people tend to stay and hang out. Chat happens.

Well, just as soon as I get a few things sorted, I'm leaving for good.
