{Dietrich is a busy bee! He never comes here other than to work. But today his work is a bit more true to his actual occupation. A few people have seen this kind of thing before, but never without its helmet.

He's working on an Autojäger, wearing a surgical apron and gloves splattered lightly with both oil and blood. Dietrich has a small table of surgical tools next to him, and the corpse puppet is laying on an operating table.

Obviously, he's not terribly concerned about people knowing his "identity" anymore. Not after the TARDIS broadcasting it to the world.}

...They're useful, that's for sure, but maintaining them is a bit messy. If only people wouldn't damage them so badly, I wouldn't have so much to do just to repair them. I mean, this one is still perfectably useable with some adjustments.

{He picks up a pair of scissors and starts to cut away the stitches binding its head together}

It's easier than having to make one from scratch, at least.

Depends on where in our chronology we are! For my younger Self and for the Byronic and cricket-loving Doctors, there are TARDISes enough for the Time Lords who need them, and there are enough Time Lords. For all of us after the War, well, his and mine are the ones that are left. Or at least I hope mine's left.

{Simply, but there's a hint of how much it pleases Dietrich} If only he had been able to do what he was told, he might have lived. To assassinate the messenger, but it was too hard for him. After all...Ion was his friend. Fate can be so cruel, but it was, for him, "for the good of all Methuselah". He joined the Orden and his empress made him a messenger. He must have felt like he signed his soul to the devil.

It's funny because he was so very cowardly and far too gentle to merely do what we wished.

And the race that opposed us. Theoretically. At the rate they come back I doubt that we are all gone. Not particularly eager to get the rest of them back, though.

[the Master smiles at the telling, but he's curious] Cowardly, really? The ones obsessed with justice are so often... 'brave.' Stupidly brave, but brave enough.

I can imagine, considering their mindset, it seems.

The vampire refused to take my advice, refused to kill his friend, so he burned in the sun when he failed. I just patched him back up so that I could still use that body. {He chuckles} His sense of justice was to join the Rosenkruez Orden, so obviously he's foolish. We're not an organization for justice. But he's young too, and obviously didn't read what he signed, since even in death, the Orden's members are not free.

Sadly, they took out the planet with them, and that was a lovely, lovely thing. Still! Nothing a little bit of landscaping can't fix.

Can others of the Orden do your little... [he waggles his fingers] puppet thing, then?

Oh, really? That's terrible, then. I can't say that I can really know what you mean because...the only planet I know is Earth. But I'll take your word for it.

Of course not. That's all mine. {And he looks thoughtful for a moment before shrugging} I created them when I was six, and when my father tried to kill me for being too smart, I returned the favor with my strings. It was interesting, so I used that village as my experiment for a year or so, at least before Cain and Isaak wandered by. So I joined the Orden when I was seven.

They're synthetic biomaterial so that the immune system doesn't attack them. The chemicals they release mimic normal bacteria, so they're impossible to detect as well, but they're highly resistant to any medicines and I make sure to keep up that standard.

{He nods} I found a book in my father's library, a Lost Artifact, about biosynthetic material, and since I had just finished an anatomy book, I wanted to apply it. It worked out well.

Oh, I've noticed. I've been working with the samples I took from my own body - trying to suss out what they're made of and all that. Very difficult to kill. The temperatures required to burn it out would be a bit painful even for me.

That's the only downside. They are living, so they're susceptible to extreme conditions, but luckily, humans and vampires couldn't survive those conditions either. I try to develop them to prevent their removal, after all.

Of course! You know, you and an old friend of mine - dead now, I can only assume - would have gotten on smashingly. She was a biochemist at the heart of her, completely amoral, of course. I remember she used to have these little larvae she used to control her servants. I've always preferred hypnosis, myself, but I enjoy psionics more than most of my fellows did.

Larvae? I can't imagine that I would like that, actually! Very messy. That's the nice thing about my strings. They're very "clean", as it is. But I imagine either way that anyone that you would consider a friend would be an interesting person to me.

He's not particularly invested in the goal of the Orden, then?

...Hmm...I wouldn't really say that he is or isn't. He just wants to take revenge on his brother Abel, but to meet Abel, he has to attract the attention of the Vatican. Isaak and Cain started it quite a while ago, but it's evolved into something else, I think. Everyone is there for their own reason, but we're all united in that we hate the current state of the world. Or, in my case, it's boring.

Though I can't say I much love to work in an organization, I think bordom is as good a reason as hatred. Rassilon, I hate being bored. More interesting if everyone has their own motive, anyway.

It is very interesting. Especially since I'm the only human. The vampires assume that my position isn't deserved, and, well, I change their motives eventually.

Well, I don't like them in the same way I don't really like humans. They're both tolerable, but I'd avoid both save for a select few if I could.
