Well...this is odd, indeed. It would appear I've been caught within a temporal loop of some kind, though I cannot find a source. Nor was there any such phenomenon on the planet we'd landed on. I see no possible way for this place to exist, let alone with me inside it. It warrants further investigation.

[disappears off the Astral Plane easily, returning shortly thereafter]

Strange. The Doctor is unable to view this anomaly with me. Nor can Charlotte. It is as though it does not exist outside my own perceptions, but that is impossible. Isn't it?

[makes a face]

Oh, bugger all.

[blinks] Yes, it's me. You're...TARDIS?

[she may or may not have squeed fangirlishly, but if she did, she'll deny it. here, have a Grey Lady, Doctor] I am! But...how are you here, and in that body? It is not one I recognise.

[grins and laughs] Brilliant! This hasn't happened since my...eighth. And, well. This is my...tenth body. Dunno how I'm here but this proves my theory, I think.

I am with your Eighth now, Doctor. We've been travelling the divergent universe together with his...woman...Charlotte. But you're to your Tenth all ready? A pity, that. Do tell me of your theory, though?

Ahh, that makes sense. You seemed more fond of this back then. [sort of bemused smile, 'cause he's all happy and thus isn't mad at the little jab] Still not a fan of Charley, eh? I told her to stop leaving her pants around, you know. But! Yes, tenth. For a few years now, actually. But my theory is that this spot is a dimensional nexus point.

I found a pair of her knickers stuffed down the drain in the washroom the other day. She'd apparently decided to 'fix' a leak. I do hope she stops that sometime soon or I'll be forced into drastic measures. But a dimensional nexus point? But how can that be possible? Unless you're all inside the divergent universe with me, Doctor?

Oooh, did she? That's an odd way to fix a leak. [scratches his head] Well, no. I don't think I am. But this places has ties to dozens of planets and alternate universes.

I find she enjoys...bending the truth, at times. Why you put up with her is any guess. But not matter. [ponders this] That still doesn't explain the cause of a nexus point, Doctor. After we entered the divergent universe, the tear was repaired. There should be no available point for universes to co-exist.

[just laughs a bit] True but eventually we do make it out of that universe so maybe that explains it? I dunno, hard to say. This place doesn't make much sense even by our standards. And Charley...ends up with my Sixth, actually. Wibbly wobbly... [waves hand] Anyway! [grins] How are you, old girl? Not often I get a conversation like this, is it?

She does? Odd that I don't remember her from that time, then. Though she did always seem strangely familiar...No matter. [grins back at him] I've been better, Doctor, but if you are the future self of my Doctor, then you should know. These are conversations we should have more often, though, I agree. The real question, however, is how are you? You know of my past, but I know nothing of our future. How did we return home, when the Time Lords acknowledged your self-exile?

Ahh, well. It was all in Rassilon's plan, of course. [waves his hand] Has to have his name on everything, doesn't he? We were allowed back because the anti-time was purged. I'm...all right. Well! We're doing all right. Just refueled you about, oooh, eighteen months ago. Eighteen months and a year that didn't happen.

[and just blinks] Refueling? What do you mean? My power source is infinite, Doctor, you know that.

Ah, well...not anymore it isn't. [meaningful look] It's gone.

[shocked silence, then] How?

There was a war and... [breathes out and says] It was the only way I could think of. I told you I could count on you.

War? [frowns, thinking it through, then nods] You...used me, did you, Doctor? Not like the Time Station but...only something I could do. My heart?

[nods] It was the only thing I could do.

[closes her eyes and smiles faintly] Always the one to sacrifice yourself for others, aren't you, Doctor? [lightly places a hand on his] It must have hurt, and for that, I am sorry.

[smiles and pats her hand] It was a strain on you, too. But! We made it. Actually, funny story but that's how I regenerated twice. Daleks never stay dead.

I should have known it would be the Daleks. [frowns] To destroy them...even I would not have wanted to pay that price, feelings towards the Time Lords and their treatment of you notwithstanding. But twice, you say?

Even if I didn't like my people, the Daleks are a threat to the universe. It just couldn't go on. [drums his fingers on neck] Well, sort of. The second time a companion of mine tried it, Rose. It worked! Just, well, with your help and you know humans can't withstand that, so I took it from her. But it got me this form. [smiles] Not a bad form.

Humans were always fragile creatures. And it is quite the attractive form, Doctor. I'm not complaining, though you must work harder to keep this form as long as you can. You don't have many regenerations left.

[clicks his tongue] I've had this one a good few years at least. I think it'll last a while longer. It's gone through some rough patches and made it out all right.

Only a little while? Then again, you never were good with judging time, were you? [smirks, touching his arm this time] Has it, now? I do so hope I wasn't letting you do anything particularly foolish.

Nope! Not especially, considering I'm a Time Lord. [glances at her hand and smiles a little~] You've been doing your best. It's been a rough regeneration but they all are, eh?
