[the Brigadier and Donna enter the Plane together as they sometimes do, but there is something off; the Brigadier isn't in uniform. In fact, he's dressed in clothes from the 2000s. Donna has a gun with her (and for good reason)]
...Something's up.
[ENTER our heroes, Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart (...my that's a mouthful) and Donna Noble! One is a firefighter, and one is a cop, and both of them are about to experience some fiery trouble in the mountains of Montana... or was it California? California has trees, doesn't it? Oh well, it's Montana for now.]
Now you wait one minute! We aren't in- [Donna's accent suddenly becomes American!] I guess we are.
[Alistair similarly has an American accent!] Hmm, Donna? Something wrong?
I could have sworn we were somewhere else.
No, no, we've been in Montana for as long as I can recall.
You're sure?
Entirely.
[Little do they know, when they return to their realities, they'll be facing off against a blaze even Alistair might not be able to tame!]
...Though that is a little disturbing.
((OOC: Blue is Brig, red is Donna, and bold is the narration only Brig and Donna can hear.))

[Considers the Br- Alistair for a moment. That yes was very certain.]
Well, this is a bit awkward. Me thinking you're a British military officer, you thinking I'm a fire fighter in Montana.

[Shakes his head, trying to reason out what has happened. He decides maybe this is the Plane's doing, and it might be best just to play along.]
And you? Everything going all right in .... Montana?

[Or so he thought, but he had no idea about the destruction looming in his future.]
[and then he seems momentarily distracted, because okay, the narrator is sounding like it knows SOMETHING]

[Not convinced, but entire situation isn't very typical, so he doesn't dwell on this. Feeling very awkward, he struggles to make conversation.]
Put out any good fires lately?

[Suddenly he misses that narrator's voice. Made much more sense than this situation]
Am I any good at it?

[Which is to say he couldn't quite recall. Well, he knew, but he didn't. It was in that sort of foggy, half aware part of his mind, where what normally is and what CURRENTLY is blurred and intersected to try to create some sensical combination. As things were properly, he and the Doctor (along with Donna Noble, not to mention UNIT) saved a great deal of lives. This translates to they do just as well as fire fighters, because it does.]
I think if you did a bad job at it, you wouldn't be in this kind of work.

[thinks for a moment]
I could imagine worse things to be than a fire fighter. I bet I look good in the uniform. Have you got one of those dogs? I love those dogs. I could be the fellow sitting on the top with the dog.

[Alistair avoids mentioning that he isn't positive on that. It is, admittedly, fuzzy. He won't admit that either.]

Maybe you could get one though, all the other fire departments have them.

So, we don't have a dog. Do we have those poles at least? They look like fun.

[His excitement was quickly diminished however, when he remembered he did not in fact work as a fire fighter alongside Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart]
Oh, right.
