[the Brigadier and Donna enter the Plane together as they sometimes do, but there is something off; the Brigadier isn't in uniform. In fact, he's dressed in clothes from the 2000s. Donna has a gun with her (and for good reason)]

...Something's up.

[ENTER our heroes, Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart (...my that's a mouthful) and Donna Noble! One is a firefighter, and one is a cop, and both of them are about to experience some fiery trouble in the mountains of Montana... or was it California? California has trees, doesn't it? Oh well, it's Montana for now.]

Now you wait one minute! We aren't in- [Donna's accent suddenly becomes American!] I guess we are.

[Alistair similarly has an American accent!] Hmm, Donna? Something wrong?

I could have sworn we were somewhere else.

No, no, we've been in Montana for as long as I can recall.

You're sure?

Entirely.

[Little do they know, when they return to their realities, they'll be facing off against a blaze even Alistair might not be able to tame!]

...Though that is a little disturbing.

[Listens to their conversation. He stares at the two of them in confusion]

Since when have two been American, and living in .... Montana?

[sadly, the Brigadier has been made to conform to movie logic. so continue to have American accented Brig] At least... ten years? Not sure about Donna, though she seems to be a bit confused about things.

[he tilts his head to the side] What?

[Alistair wasn't good at starting conversations- even with all his years of hanging out with the other guys he worked with, he still wasn't the most social. One couldn't blame him for his lack of ability to initiate a conversation with Ryotarou with a sentence comprised of more than one word that was only one syllable. Well, they COULD, but it was unlikely that they would. Alistair was certain of this... well, not really. His mind was elsewhere: on the fires that had become increasingly common over the past few months...]

...I think I'm... [he glances around for a moment, because really, that narration is a bit disturbing] Nevermind.

... Are you alright?

...Yes? [he doesn't sound entirely sure]

Your accent...

[Handy continues to be confused by American Brig in decidedly un-Brig like attire.] She's not the only one.

[He said, stating the obvious.]

[turns around in a circle, until he's facing the Brig again] Did you hear that?

Hear what?

[Alistair was inwardly confused, but his stoic demeanor didn't let the emotion show. His accent? What about it? Perhaps it was only now that Ryotarou had noticed it, though it left him wondering why he had only chosen to point it out now. They had spoken before, after all. Not to mention, a Montana accent couldn't have been that odd, not now.]

What about it?

[He was getting on alert. First there was the strange, disembodied voice narrating his actions and internal monolog, and now his accent was being questioned. Things were getting suspicious; he didn't like it at all. Something was most definately not as it should have been.]

[Looks around himself for another second, then shakes his head] I suppose it was nothing.

[Despite his words, he still couldn't help but feel that someone or something was - ]

[Jumps at the voice, interrupting it mid-narration] That! Did you hear that?

Well, it's... it doesn't sound like it used to.

[Alistair had no idea what the Doctor was talking about, so he instead decided to write it off as some sort of Doctorly nonsense. He had dealt with it before, though now he couldn't pinpoint how - there was some vagueness about a lab and an organization called 'UNIT', but those aren't relevant for now. So watch as things rearrange, and the Doctor is someone who works with him. A fellow fire fighter, if you would.]

Are you alright, Doctor?

[He really hoped the Doctor had just inhaled a bit of gas, or something of the sort had gotten to him. He really didn't need to deal with him potentially having lost his mind due to some strange work related stress. It was, after all, a rather stressful business. People had died on them before, civilians and co-workers alike. But as said, he was writing it off as Doctor nonsense - inquiring towards how he was doing was simply a matter of being polite.]

No, I'm certain it sounds as it always has.

... if you say so.

[He didn't believe the young man's response, but he kept it to himself. He could have pried, but he chose, instead, to take a slightly more conservative route. Alistair would figure things out through observation, in a way. Wait for something to be said to him that he could work with. ...Or he could always ask questions. But not now.]

[he pauses for a moment, and then frowns]

Ah. This might seem a bit odd, but... can you hear anyone else speaking from time to time?

[Poor Alistair, plagued by disembodied voices. He was beginning to wonder if he had really snapped and possibly taken Donna with him. After all, sane men didn't hear strange voices. Especially ones that talked on and on. It was, to say the least, worrying.]

Um... [No one besides Deneb, which isn't all that unusual, so.] No...? Can you?

....nice accent.

[He really has snapped.]

Well... I'm probably just overworked.

[Yes, that had to be the case. Overstressed. Overworked. He was fine; this would just go away if he took a day or two off. Let his mind settle. That would fix everything, he told himself.]

Just now noticed, Jack?

You're overworked... so you've started to hear voices?

[Relaxes down again, deciding he must be hearing things.] I'm not entirely sure. I could've sworn I heard something.

[Focuses on the Brig, remembering the American accent and 21st century clothing] Are you alright?

[He paused for a moment, unsure if he would hear a voice again. When he didn't hear anything, he continued speaking] Your accent, and your clothes. How did that happen?

[He studied the Brig. Unsure what exactly happened to his old colleague. He wasn't sure if it could be blamed on this place. Or perhaps something else more sinister was happening in the Brig's own reality. Either way, he knew something must be done to help his friend.]

[Tenses at the voice, but does not comment on it, realizing the Brig for whatever reason cannot hear it.]

...Yes.

I'm noticing a little more than the accent.....

What happened to your uniform?
