[Somebody's returned to the plane-- and this time she's got a rather large picnic basket hanging from the crook of her elbow. Kneeling, she takes the red-and-white checked blanket tucked into the top of the blanket and spreads it over the ground. From the basket she unpacks paper plates, forks, napkins, and...

And PIES. Lots and lots of fresh, hot, delicious-smelling home-baked pies.]

I promised pie, and pie I deliver. Anybody want a slice?

[someone smells pie! and is interested, but she's too shy to get closer, so she just watches from a distance, keeping an eye on the sweets and the girl who brought them]

I'd raise by hand, but there's something terribly institutionalized about that. I want pie!

Hopefully that basket is larger on the inside, otherwise you'll be out of pie in the next five minutes or so.

[Ever observant, Dorothy cuts a slice of cherry for the girl and beckons her over]

C'mon over! Nothin' to be afraid of. Got a great big slice of cherry pie here with your name on it!

Well, come on over, then! I did promise, after all.

[Ooh. Strawberry rhubarb. She cuts a slice and puts it on a plate, holding it out to him] Tell me what you think. Too sweet?

Oh! Hello, Doctor! I promised you pie, didn't I? I always keep my promises.

[Oh dear, she thinks he's the Other Ten.] I think it was strawberry rhubarb, wasn't it? Now what do you mean, larger on the inside?

Experimentation with Jelly Babies has taught me that nothing is too sweet. Except possibly coffee and tea. Thank you, my dear.

[accepts the plate and tries it, politely waiting until he's done chewing to grin]

Now, that is lovely! Not too sweet at all.

[dlkjlakdf DOROTHY. Uh. Rather. Pie.] Ah! Did you make them yourself?

Any fish and chip wrappers in there?

[She BEAMS.] Wonderful! Oh, I'm glad. I tried my best to follow the recipe, but my Aunt Em's handwriting... not the easiest to understand.

I did! All of them. Took me a while, too. Would you like a slice? I've got cherry, strawberry rhubarb, apple, pecan, pumpkin spice...

[Appreciative sniff] Lass, if they taste a quarter as good as they smell, I'll take one on my own.

No, sorry, just pies. Next time I'll bring a chicken pot pie, just for you!

[S-so many options. Of pie. Made by Dorothy.] Um... What's your favorite?

Ha! Well, we have to leave some for everyone else! Start you off with a slice and work up from there, how's that sound?

What flavor would you like? I've got apple, pecan, pumpkin spice, cherry...

Well, they're all delicious, but I've got to stick by the classic apple pie. [She cuts a slice and hands it to Henrietta] Give it a try?

[is still very wary, but comes a little closer. because really, she loves pie. prefers strawberry! but cherry sounds yummy, too~ so say hello to the absolutely adorable three-foot-tall Doll hiding just beyond reach and watching you, Dorothy]

[dklajsd almost drops it.] Thank you. [It's a reverential squeak that is totally disproportionate a reaction to receiving a slice of pie, but there we are.]

Exactly! Thank you, Princess.

And give my thanks to your Aunt as well, though you deserve twice as much, for cook and translator.

[Well, she's tiny, but Dorothy's seen stranger.] Come on, it's okay! My name's Dorothy, I won't hurt you.

[still considers her, then nods, coming out far enough to take her slice of pie, then steps back again] I'm Suiseiseki, desu.

Oh, for Pete's sake, just call me Dorothy, really! What kind of princess bakes pies? It's only a title.

I'll pass it along. She loves to hear her cooking's 'preciated. Though I'm awful flattered.
