[Dino is seated at the bar, a glass of something in front of him although he hasn't touched it yet. He looks very tired and he's not wearing his regular coat, only a light jacket that looks rumbled. Also, his arm is in a sling and he looks slightly beat up. He frowns at his glass.]

It doesn't make any sense...what were they trying for?

[Nods, still frowning at the glass.] It doesn't make any sense. They had to know they couldn't win.

Could they have been after the rings?

I don't think so. I suppose they could have found out about them though, and it would explain why they went after other families as well...it's another possibility at least.

What is their family's relationship like with the Cavallones?

Very bad. I'm part of the Alliance, they aren't, and they've made no effort to conceal how much they hate the Alliance.

And you don't think this is some standard challenge to authority?

On the surface it looks like one and I know that's the conclusion other families are drawing but it just isn't sitting right with me for some reason. They men that attacked us didn't seem like the regular sort of men Calcassa usually sends out. They were to disorganized.

...Is it possible that this is a distraction?

That's what I think, although I can't think of what they would need a distraction for. I have my contacts watching for any unusual activity but so far it's turned up nothing. They haven't been this bold before, whatever they're doing, and that's worrying.

[Sits down next to him.] Sounds like you're doing all you can for now. I'm not sure you have a choice but to wait until they make another move.

I don't see a choice easier. It doesn't make the waiting any easier. I keep hoping my contacts will turn up something that will make sense of this.

Is there anything I can do?

I doubt there's anything anyone can do until we get more information.

[Bit of a smile] Don't you have your own problems to deal with anyway?

[Returns it.] True. Another reason I like the fact that time doesn't pass here.

It is the most useful part of this place. It almost outweighs the drawbacks.
