[shake their heads] To best replicate the situation, the participants can't be informed of the experiment prior to joining. It also helps to watch reactions to the confusion and see how they begin to interact with their environments without explanations.

So, the experiment is directly effected by the reactions the participant has after being exposed to the 'astral plane.'

It's psychological, then?

Yep! A lot of this is very psychological. It's partly why were slightly worried over the string of murders. It wasn't expected so the psychological effects might be more than we expected.

And the mental instability of a subject had an adverse effect on their 'control' of their perceived reality, I take it?

Death seems to have... a considerably lesser consequence here as opposed to... 'my reality'? Ah, it's... interesting.

Mhm~ Things change.

Well, we can't let test subjects die permanently. It takes a lot of energy to support this system. It's easier to revive people. But we'd still rather people not die toooooo much.

Hm, so... if I were to die because of events occurring in my reality - you would act to 'revive' me?

[give him a curious look] We're hoping you don't plan to die but~ we won't let you stay dead, no. A few participants were actually revived from death just for the experiment.

Ah, no, I hardly intend to die. I'm merely speculating. ~~There's always the possibility, unfortunately.~~ [He is most definitely contemplating the precarious situation he's in as he drives Light into a corner.]

If that were to be the case - though, I sincerely hope it never will be - how would it effect those in my reality? Those involved in my death, per say? [This has obviously piqued L's interest.]

Hmm, well, one participant in this experiment was killed in his reality. He's had a fractured reality since then. You see! Consider it like a physical wound. Your body will do its best to heal but some things may not heal properly or even get worse.

From how you spoke earlier of how you hope to avoid he deaths of participants, I take it you'd prefer to avoid realities from fracturing.

What sort of change do you hope to see?

Well~ We'd rather not have realities too broken but we also think it might be an inevitable conclusion.

[tilt their heads] We want people...to figure out what we haven't been able to about this place. We can't interact with it in the same way as you can. We can't change it like this.

It must be difficult for you, in that case. To have so many questions and living vicariously through your subjects in order to get the answers.

I'm curious. What is it like, in your reality?

It can be very hard but we're used to being observers by this point.

Our reality? [laugh] We live on an island on an earth. It's a pretty busy place so it's very good for business.

Is your reality affected by your participants?

[tilt their heads] Well, one of our employees was a bit upset over Sam's death. But other than that not really.
