[Yuri appears on the Plane, but he's not alone! He's on the ground, one claw weapon blocking the sharpened wooden stake the thing in front of him is trying to kill him with. The monster looks like a young woman who is standing on her hands, but her body is curiously smooth and sexless. She's also covered in sores, her eyes glow red, while her teeth are pointed and covered in dried blood. The pole she's trying to stab Yuri with is held in her feet and has two severed heads impaled on it. Yuri looks around and grins.]

This'll make things easier.

[Has a brief moment of 'WTF is that!?' but he fights alongside an old man who uses a puppet as a weapon and a little girl who summons monsters from photographs so he quickly recovers. The monster collapses, then quickly falls prey to a last kick from it. He turns to face her as the monster starts to fade away turning into red mist.]

Welcome. [She's not sure if that hesitation she's sensing is because he *could* see Stone Free, or because he *couldn't* and now is wondering what the hell just punched that monster thing.] ...so, just what was that?

A malice monster. What the hell was that thing you used?

A stand. Are those things common where you're from?

What's a stand?

It depends. Malice monsters show up in some places more than others.

I'm... not really entirely sure. Dad wasn't that great at explaining it, but I guess she's an extension of myself.

[She crosses her arms.] That's a pretty good name for them, but I think I would have gone with "holy shit, what the everloving fuck monster."

So it's some weird some of power you have? Like ESP or something?

Heh, that's pretty close to what most people say when they see one for the first time. Either that or they start praying. Malice Monster is just less of a mouthful, and it reminds everyone where they come from.

[Shrug] I'm not a born stand-user, if that's what you're asking. But Stone Free's... augh, it's hard to explain. She's me, but she's not.

That's not too surprising. It's even uglier than some of the stands I've seen, and those can get pretty ugly.

Huh...so is it a power someone gave you or did it just develop one day?

Those were actually pretty tame for malice monsters. The ones that looked like girls that've been skinned alive are worse.

I got it because of this weird amulet my dad sent me. And yeah, there's a lot of other stand users.

[Cringe] ...uh, ow.

Huh. Did he know that would happen?

Did the others get exposed to the amulet thing to or did they just have the stands?

Malice Monsters aren't nice. They're made from condensed negative emotions.

Yeah, that's why he sent the damn thing.

A couple of the people I know have stands because of the amulet, some are born users, and some got theirs from a stand called White Snake. If I knew who the hell his user was, I'd beat the crap out've him. Bastard's a pain in the ass.

So do they just form on their own, or does somebody help them along?

I take it this White Snake guy is giving stands to people who probably shouldn't have them?

It depends. In places where the Malice is naturally thick, like places where there's been a lot of pain, then they sometimes form without help. Otherwise something, or someone, will have to come in and get things started.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Taking stands from people, too - like my dad.

Huh. I can't really picture anyone wanting to create something like that... no, actually scratch that. I can. Just none of them are happy friendly sane people.

That another reason you want to find this guy?

No one sane wants anything to do with Malice. It corrupts everything it touches.

...yeah. He's still got my dad's memory disk, and I want it back.

I'm not sure I even want to ask what sort of people are going around making things like that in your world.

Memory disk?

Most of them are just desperate for something.

That sort of thing is White Snake's ability - removing a person's memories and stand in the form of disks.

Frankenstein-esque romance?
