[Kougaiji appears on the plane, bringing with him a low, small table with a stack of Mahjong tiles. He appears to be in the middle of a game of solitaire, though he's quickly finding matches and therefore just looks bored with it.

After a few matches, he drums his fingers against the table, no longer focusing on the game. He mutters something about Koushou to himself.]

((OoC: ... I don't even have an excuse for my lack of activity, aside from school kicking my ass. Continually. ::hangs head in shame:: Give me another chance...?))

[Kougaiji bows his head in response -- he'd do more, but it's hard to bow while seated.] Another place I'm not familiar with... I am Kougaiji. Prince of the Youkai.

[He finishes with the wall and gives Zuko a very faint, polite smile.] Would you care to be the East Wind this round, or should I?

[Zuko straightens slowly, looking up at Kougaiji with a mixture of awe and respect.] It's... an honor to meet you. Your people are called 'youkai'?

[Oh. Right. He takes a seat.] Uh... I've never dealt, actually.

It is an honor to meet you as well, Prince Zuko. And yes, we are called youkai. ...You're human, are you not?

It's fine. I will. [And so, he passes thirteen tiles to Zuko. Let the games begin....]

[Zuko stares long and hard at the playing field. He hasn't played against anyone but his uncle before -- ow that pings -- but he knows he can do this. Concentrate... After what is probably far too long, he makes his first move.]

[Kougaiji keeps his gaze on the tiles even while speaking.] I never know here on the plane. ... Humans are not... kind... where I come from. ... If I say something out of line, I apologize.

[He takes a long moment to think, too. After long enough, he discards a tile and just waits.]

[Zuko watches Kougaiji as much as he can while maintaining some form of politeness. He's curious, okay? And understanding, that too.]

... My people aren't a stunning example of human kindness, either. So I'm used to it.

[Zuko takes his time, because if he tries to rush, he'll only get frustrated.]

We have not been kind in return. Though I want to say that we're in the right, I am more than aware that some take it too far. ... Nobody is perfect.

[Kougaiji won't be rushing him. He's... actually enjoying the conversation. He's curious, too, but hell if he'll admit to it aloud. Besides, he's certainly in no hurry...]

... Yeah. No one is perfect. [Zuko spots an easy move, but before he can take it, he spots a slightly more obscure route to take. It looks like it'll open up more options for him later on, so he changes his mind and goes with that one instead.]

[Kougaiji keeps to the more obvious moves, for now; he figures that there's always time later to do things in a more complicated way.]

It's rare that a prince admits to his own people's hostility. Do you have the power to change it?

... That depends. [The time between his moves is shrinking a little.] If I want to change it, I can't be the perfect prince.
