[Misaki is standing on the edge of the theater roof, on top of the little cement cement barrier there to keep people from falling off. She sticks one foot into the air in front of her, puts her arms out for balance, and then pivots sharply and starts walking along the ledge. She stops at the corner of the theater and it looks for a moment like she's going to jump, but she just plops neatly down on the ledge and dangles her feet in the air.]

...it's so pretty up here.

But you could do so much more good if people knew what you could do. You could help the police or firefighters or...

[TUG. :|] Don't talk to me like I'm stupid. My dad's a cop. I know what people can do. They can be cold and cruel and will use up and cast aside the weak ones that rely on them, for no other reason than it makes them feel strong or gets them somewhere they want to be. They can do horrible, terrible things. It's why people like you and my dad matter. But that's not all people are, or there'd be no reason to defend them.

I think I've seen my dad in the hospital because he wouldn't fire on someone who had a weapon of his own. I think I've seen crime scenes when he got called in on the way to school. Japan's not nearly as bad as places like America or China, but it's not safe, either. Girls my age get... get hurt all the time, there's yakuza and the Chinese mob and... [Looking away, feeling somehow disloyal to Alice.]

... Alright. Maybe your dad is a good enough guy that he wouldn't turn someone like me over. But what about the people he works with? Could you guarantee that every single one of his coworkers wouldn't?
