[seated in an ornate armchair, speaking in fluent, articulate, and rather pleasant-to-the-ears Gallifreyan]

It's actually a bit disgusting, hearing you lot speak Gallifreyan so primitively. Like chanting off - no, that metaphor's incomprehensible without a background in high mathematics. Fine. Like writing Calculus and finding everyone else doing basic algebra.

[then he changes to Russian - less articulate, of course, but he's comfortable with the language]

This one, though, this one's a bit ironic. Look at me, the Master, the deathless, blathering on in Russian. Haven't been in ages, should probably go back and put a few more legends into the locals.

[sips from his wine, and slips back into Gallifreyan]

At least the people of the city still understand me.

[now moving a distance away] You can't just let anything go, can you?

[snorts] I don't even know what you're saying and I know you're mad at me again. You always are, aren't you?

Why do you even bother talking to me when you know we can't understand each other?

I wonder if this is annoying you. Does it bother you at all? I could say anything I want to you and you wouldn't know what it is. It's funny because I keep thinking I could say anything. It's like therapy! I could tell you I'm scared for her. I think she's doing something stupid and that other me is encouraging her and what can I do about it? Nothing. I just wanted her to move on and live. I could tell you that you're an idiot because you don't see that I've wanted you for so long and that I'm trying to think how I can give up things for you. You can't just expect me to drop everything right away but I'm trying. I could say that.

And no matter what I say, I'm saying nothing at all. Brilliant. Well! I suppose you're bored, so sorry. I know you hate it when I'm boring. Entertainment. That's a nice lot in life, isn't it? Your hated entertainment.

Sounds like someone just had a bitter confession session.

And naturally, you don't care at all. I don't know what I expect from you. Oh, no, I do know. 'Too much'. [sits down and crosses his legs]

[walks over to him and sits down there, crossing his legs as well]

Bitter and sulking. Typical.

[looks up] What is it? You don't even know why I'm mad.

You're sulking and I've barely even done anything. Not very grown up.

Don't look at me like that.

Do you think it's all your fault? The way I am? Do you think that I became this because of you?

I didn't, you know. I couldn't have become this without you, no denying that, but you didn't make me who I am. You didn't make my choices for me.

The only thing you did is ruin us. That's where you're to blame.

[just looks at him for a moment before sighing softly]

I'm sorry, Master. I really meant that. When I saw you again. I meant it more than anything I've said in... [shakes his head]

I wonder why I even bother with you.

[smiles just a bit] You know, sometimes you get this look on your face and I think you might actually care.

Ew, it's the hopeful face. Don't get your hopes up.

[pouts] There goes that face.

And so the Master smited ... smitted.... struck down the face of hope, and all was well again.

[nudges the Master with his foot]

[gives him a Look]

[waves at him]

[grabs his wrist, and after a moment's hesitation, pins him down to the ground and sits on him]

There. Much better.

[blinks, looking up at him] You do that a lot.

[frowns, because he's sitting on the Doctor and he wants his wine. But it's all the way over at his chair]

[pokes the Master curiously]
